Timothee Chalamet hails from New York City, but being a native New Yorker didn’t automatically prompt him towards acting. In a chat with Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes, this Dune actor reminisced about living in one of NYC’s buildings and cohabitating with others striving to succeed in showbiz, much like himself.

During an interview with Cooper, the actor from Wonka expressed his initial fear of entering the entertainment world, as living in that building had previously made him apprehensive about acting due to its demanding nature and the fact that not everyone is thriving in it. Chalamet phrased it as, “Living in this building genuinely gave me a fear of acting, as it’s a challenging profession where not everyone is doing exceptionally well.

According to Cooper’s statement, he believed Chalamet found encouragement in observing other actors’ struggles. However, this wasn’t the case for the actor from A Complete Unknown. In the interview, Timothée himself admitted that he was instead petrified at the thought of becoming an actor.

In his subsequent discussions, Chalamet reminisced about the guidance he received from his father. He emphasized that while his family was deeply involved in arts and show business, it was essential for the actor to maintain a relatable, ordinary presence similar to any fresh talent entering the entertainment world.

According to his fame from Interstellar, his father advised him, “That’s not a suitable environment for a child. Not at all. With the cameras and crowds saying, ‘Just remember, you’re adorable to yourself.’

Ultimately, Chalamet made his debut in the industry and became a part of significant productions. His exceptional performances in Call Me By Your Name and A Complete Unknown even earned him two Academy Award nominations.
