Hailey Bieber appears to have made a veiled comment about Scooter Braun following his praise of Justin Bieber’s new album Swag, as suggested by her Instagram story post featuring an enlarged-eyes and lips filter along with Mariah Carey’s song Obsessed playing in the background. This could potentially be interpreted as a subtle jab or hint at some tension between them.
Previously managing Justin for close to two decades until their separation in 2023, Braun expressed his views about Swag on various platforms. On Instagram, he penned, “This is undeniably the most genuine Justin Bieber album yet. It’s beautiful, unfiltered, and a true reflection of him. And that authenticity matters.
The music executive went on to say, “For nearly two decades, I’ve been fortunate enough to observe his development. There comes a moment in every journey when an artist truly owns their craft, and that’s exactly what he has accomplished here.” Braun continued, “Not only is the release method thoughtful, but it mirrors the intentionality of the music itself. It’s rewarding to see him follow his own path.
Hailey stands by Justin’s side
Hailey Bieber stands firmly by her husband’s side as he resumes his music career. She defended him against critics who labeled his song “Swag” a distress call, instead boasting about its streaming figures. On Instagram, she announced that “Justin Bieber’s Swag amassed 74.37 million streams on the Global Spotify Chart in its very first day, surpassing Justice and marking Justin’s biggest debut on the platform to date.
In another slide, she included a link for fans to purchase Justin’s album from his website. Additionally, Hailey shared an image of a large Times Square billboard displaying Justin’s new album cover, with the caption “Are you finally getting it, you idiots?” aimed at those spreading rumors about their marriage issues.
Here’s what’s behind the drama
After it was announced that Justin Bieber was resolving an ongoing financial disagreement with his former manager Scooter Braun, Braun publicly praised Swag from Bieber. According to TMZ, Bieber is scheduled to pay Braun over $30 million to cover debts from the canceled Justice tour and unpaid commissions.
In 2022, when Justin Bieber had to cut short parts of his tour due to health concerns, HYBE (Braun’s company) stepped in and assisted Bieber with repaying $26 million out of a $40 million advance he received earlier. According to reports from TMZ, Bieber had failed to make payments but has now reached an agreement to settle. Additionally, it’s been alleged that Bieber will also pay Braun half of the $11 million in commissions he reportedly owed.
