As a longtime fan of Goo Goo Dolls and a seasoned concert-goer myself, I can empathize with both the band and their fans amid this unfortunate turn of events. It’s disheartening to hear about John Rzeznik’s battle with pneumonia and the subsequent postponement of the concerts in South Africa.
regretfully, concert-going Goo Goo Dolls supporters in South Africa will have to wait a bit longer due to the postponement of their shows; this adjustment stems from the fact that the band’s lead singer, John Rzeznik, is currently hospitalized fighting pneumonia.
On Monday, December 4th, the band posted a video on their Instagram account revealing that they’re adjusting their tour dates to March 2025.
In the title, they lamented having to delay their performances in South Africa. Bandmates revealed that the nation held significant value for them, and they eagerly anticipated creating additional cherished moments together.
I regret to inform you that my physician has recommended a period of rest and recuperation, as shared in our latest update. I appreciate your patience and support during this time. Rest assured, we’ll come back stronger than ever, returning in March 2025!
Here are the revised concert dates: Cape Town (March 25, 2025), Durban (March 27, 2025), and Pretoria (March 29, 2025). The band has announced that the tickets purchased for the original dates will still be valid for these rescheduled shows. They’ll provide instructions on how to confirm your attendance or request a refund, depending on your preference.
In the video, the lead singer of the band, currently in a hospital bed, expressed his regrets to their fans about the need to reschedule due to an illness he contracted. He explained that when he initially visited the doctor and was diagnosed with this specific illness, she instructed him to be admitted to the hospital for a few days while he recuperated.
The vocalist also mentioned that they’re making every effort to return soon, and they promised to keep everyone updated on the situation. Once more, they apologized for any inconvenience this may have caused and assured their fans that they would make amends. They showed appreciation for everyone’s understanding and patience.
According to the latest news, they’re planning to give a series of concerts in South Africa from December 4th through the 7th. Additionally, it’s been mentioned that the band will also be performing at Live Fest 2024 in Naples on December 14th.
