Did Emilia Pérez’s Karla Sofía Gascón Not Know Selena Gomez Was A Disney Star? Says Daughter Told Her To ‘Treat Her Well’

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for Hollywood trends and a deep appreciation for the struggles and triumphs of celebrities, I must say that Selena Gomez continues to impress me with her versatility and resilience. Her ability to transform from a beloved Disney star to a critically acclaimed actress is nothing short of remarkable.

Selena Gomez famously appeared on Disney’s hit show Wizards of Waverly Place and is known for being the most followed woman on social media. But surprisingly her film Emilia Pérez’s director Jacques Audiard and co-star Karla Sofía Gascón had no idea about her massive fan base or her memorable breakout role. In fact, the director knew her for her other works like Spring Breakers and Woody Allen’s A Rainy Day in New York.

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Audiard spoke about his initial encounter with the singer behind The Hands To Myself. He described it as an immediate attraction: “It was love at first sight. I admired her sensitivity, vulnerability, and the aura she carried,” he shared.

Regarding Gason, it was her 13-year-old daughter, a fan of Selena Gomez known as a ‘Selenator’, who shared some advice with her before she began working on the project featuring Emilia Pérez. “When she learned that I would be collaborating with her, my daughter said, ‘Mom, you need to treat her kindly because she’s been through a lot,'” Gascon reminisced.

As soon as the camera started recording, the actress was taken aback by Gomez’s capacity for being both present and humble. Gascon remarked, “Out of all the people I’ve encountered in the acting industry – and trust me, I’ve met a lot – she is the most down-to-earth.” Furthermore, he disclosed that his daughter has also formed a bond with the Only Murders in the Building star, and Gomez even drove his daughter to the premiere.

Regarding the popular singer, there’s quite a buzz surrounding her! Not only has she garnered praise for her performance in Emilia Pérez following its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, but she’s also made a comeback to Disney with a Wizards of Waverly Place spin-off. To top it all off, she seems to be overjoyed and content.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d say: In an exclusive conversation, the actress candidly shared how Harmony Korine’s provocative indie film “Spring Breakers” ignited my passion for acting. After wrapping up over 100 episodes of “Wizards” and two spin-off movies, I dabbled in a few delightful, wholesome projects that I remain thankful for. However, it was the encounter with Harmony that truly rekindled my interest in the world of acting.

In the musical thriller “Emilia Pérez,” set in Mexico, four women are portrayed, each striving for their personal happiness. The storyline revolves around Emilia, a cartel leader, who seeks assistance from Rita, an underappreciated lawyer, to orchestrate her supposed demise. This act allows her to lead a life true to herself.
