As a dedicated film enthusiast with a penchant for the macabre and unconventional, I can only imagine what a David Fincher-directed Harry Potter would have looked like. His unique vision, characterized by his love for darker themes and atmospheres, would have undoubtedly given us a “creepy” Hogwarts that was more reminiscent of “Withnail and I” than the traditional Hollywood version.

From his past works such as “Gone Girl,” “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” “Zodiac,” and “The Killer,” it is evident that Fincher’s fascination lies in exploring the darker aspects of human nature, be it our narcissistic leanings, serial killers, or the boogeyman from his childhood. It’s fascinating to see how he manages to find inspiration in stories that already have a built-in audience and are proven to sell.

It appears that the director known for “The Killer” is potentially developing an American version of the popular Korean Netflix series, Squid Game. Furthermore, rumors suggest that Fincher could be involved in a prequel miniseries to Chinatown, a project he previously co-wrote with the late screenwriter Robert Towne.
