As an ardent fan, I must say that Cooper Koch’s journey into the world of acting and his portrayal of Erik Menendez in Netflix’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story has been nothing short of riveting! His unapologetic and candid approach to discussing the show’s controversial aspects, such as the viral prison shower scene, truly adds a layer of authenticity to his performance.
Actor Cooper Koch, who portrayed Erik Menendez in Netflix’s series “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” offers intriguing behind-the-scenes information about its production. On October 14th, he appeared on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” to talk about the popular scene from the show where a prison shower was depicted.
To celebrate the viral shower scene of Koch without clothes, the talk show host ranked the top 5 most famous full-frontal nude scenes ever filmed. The list featured Jude Law in The Talented Mr Ripley from 1999 and Kate Winslet in Titanic. He then brought up Mark Wahlberg’s Boogie Nights scene, where he utilized a “fake penis” as part of the act.
In this exchange, Koch added, “Just to clarify, mine isn’t a prosthesis,” which earned applause from the crowd. Cohen then said, “I was about to ask the same question,” followed by “Bravo, Cooper! You’re truly fortunate.” To which Koch playfully responded, “Well endowed,” with a smile.
The host further praised Daniel Radcliffe in the Broadway revival of Equus and Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct. When Cohen asked Koch about the challenges of directing those scenes during the show’s Clubhouse of Horrors segment, the Swallowed actor said it was not scary.
He mentioned that it took some getting used to at the start and it’s quite chilly, particularly during a shower, but after a while it becomes more comfortable. Interestingly, what really made him uneasy was encountering the Menendez brothers in person, as he played one of them on the show.
He went on to explain that the anticipation of meeting them was particularly nerve-racking due to his long familiarity with them and deep concern for their wellbeing. However, upon arriving, everything went smoothly without a hitch. The series “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” presents a chilling true account of brothers who brutally murdered their parents in 1989 and have been incarcerated since 1996.
In response to being queried about the most nerve-wracking scene to shoot during the series, Koch pointed out the murder scene, describing it as “extremely intense and terrifying.” The show titled “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” is now available for streaming on Netflix.
