Brandon Sklenar is all set to join Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney in the eagerly awaited movie version of “The Housemaid”. However, as per director Paul Feig, it was a subtle assist from Blake Lively that helped him secure the part. Having just finished filming “It Ends With Us” with Lively, Sklenar managed to impress the casting team in an unexpected manner.
During an episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast on May 1st, Feig shared the tale behind selecting the film’s male lead. Having already chosen Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney for their roles, the director was still seeking the ideal male actor when Lively provided a well-timed suggestion.
Blake recently collaborated with Brandon on “It Ends With Us,” as Feig explained. While still engrossed in filming another project titled “Another Simple Favor,” she exclaimed, ‘I’m working alongside this extraordinary individual! You simply must meet Brandon!’
Feig, intrigued, extended an invitation for lunch to Sklenar, and as it turned out, that was a pivotal moment. As he put it humorously, “Within 30 seconds, I felt like jello!” He continued with a chuckle, “He’s the most charismatic individual you could ever meet… immensely talented.
In “The Housemaid,” Sklenar will team up with Seyfried and Sweeney. This film is adapted from Frieda McFadden’s top-selling thriller. The narrative centers around Millie, a homeless woman who takes on the role of housekeeper for what appears to be a flawless family, but as dark secrets start surfacing within their home, things take a sinister turn. Despite the weighty subject matter and a rapid 34-day production with more than 200 scenes, Feig commended the cast’s commitment. “They were outstanding every time,” he stated. “I’m eager for you to witness it — and indeed, it will be shown in cinemas.
Endorsed by Blake Lively and directed by Paul Feig, “The Housemaid” delivers tense acting and suspenseful narratives. Brandon Sklenar’s rising stardom persists, demonstrating that sometimes a perfect role can arrive with a nudge from a high-profile colleague. Don’t miss this movie when it hits theaters for its premiere.
