As a dedicated fan of both Vice President Kamala Harris and Beyoncé, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard about their recent connection during Harris’ presidential campaign. The fact that Harris was able to secure the rights to use Beyoncé’s powerful anthem “Freedom” for her campaign is truly awe-inspiring.
In the heated and ever-changing U.S. election environment, Vice President Kamala Harris drew attention during her inaugural visit to her campaign headquarters on July 22, 2024. As she stepped outside, Beyoncé’s popular anthem “Freedom” played. A confidant of Harris revealed to CNN that her team had obtained permission from Beyoncé’s representatives to utilize the song throughout her presidential campaign as she champions various crucial issues in the race.
Based on a CNN report, Beyoncé, who is meticulous about controlling the use of her music, granted permission for Harris’ campaign to utilize her track just hours before Harris made her entrance with the song during her political event.
CNN reports suggest that Harris has Beyonce‘s support
Based on CNN’s reports, if Beyonce is said to have given Harris and her team permission to use her song “Freedom” for their campaign, this supposedly signifies that Harris has Beyonce’s backing. Furthermore, Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother, endorsed Harris on July 21, 2023, not long after Biden announced his withdrawal from the race.
“Fresh, vibrant, and keen energy! Knowles posted on Instagram a picture of herself with Harris. Setting aside individual egos, power, and fame is the mark of a superior leader. Thank you, President Biden, for your dedication and leadership. Go Vice President Harris for President!”
In the year 2020, Beyoncé expressed her support for the Biden-Harris campaign by posting a message on her Instagram account, urging her fans to exercise their right to vote.

Beyonce has a history of endorsing Democratic candidates
I’ve been an avid supporter of Beyoncé’s activism in politics, and it doesn’t come as a surprise that she’s made headlines once again for her involvement. She has a long-standing history of endorsing Democratic candidates. In fact, she performed the National Anthem at President Barack Obama’s inauguration back in 2013. Moreover, during the 2016 election season, Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z graced the stage for Hillary Clinton’s pre-election rally in Cleveland, Ohio. Their powerful performance was accompanied by dancers clad in blue pantsuits as a tribute to the potential first female president.
Kendrick Lamar’s “Freedom,” which made its debut on Beyoncé’s 2016 album “Lemonade,” gained significant popularity following George Floyd’s death in 2020. This powerful song, nominated for a Grammy in 2017, became a rallying cry at numerous protests. It reached impressive heights on music charts, climbing as high as number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.
