Aubrey Plaza and her late husband, Jeff Baena, were living apart before his passing in January. After Baena took his own life, reports from the medical examiner about their troubled marriage started appearing online.
In simpler terms, the reports stated that the director had openly discussed his mental health issues with his estranged spouse. This conversation led her to contact a friend who then carried out a wellness check on him.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that Baena contacted Plaza on the fateful day, approximately at 10:30 a.m. Unfortunately, it was his dog walker who discovered Plaza’s lifeless body within their home later on.
After the suicide, the actress and her family expressed that Baena’s death was an “inexpressibly sorrowful event.” In a statement given to People Magazine, they conveyed, “We greatly appreciate all the kindness shown to us. We kindly ask for privacy as we navigate through this difficult time.
In her chat with the media outlet, Plaza shared some benefits of being romantically involved with someone in her line of work. She expressed that one advantage is they have to be self-reliant, take short vacations, and pursue individual activities.
She remarked, “It’s quite intriguing actually. Everything keeps changing, and yet, we cherish our time together. I believe there’s a method for making this work, and it involves finding the right balance.
Jeff Baena was 47 at the time of his death.
