In exciting news, the second season of Dexter: Original Sin has been approved! Patrick Gibson will reprise his role as the central character, Dexter Morgan. This series is a prequel to the original Dexter on Netflix, which was a hit for 8 seasons from 2006 to 2013.
The original storyline explains how a once-ordinary character evolved into the ruthless murderer we now know. In this prequel, Gibson portrays the younger version of the infamous serial killer, originally played by Michael C. Hall in the main series. Here, he provides insight into the internal thoughts and feelings of young Dexter.
According to the official summary, the narrative unfolds in Miami during the 1990s, where we follow a young character named Dexter. As he evolves from a student into a vengeful serial killer, he must tap into his inner darkness, which is mentored by his father, Harry.
The father follows a rule system intended for eliminating individuals deemed unfit for society. Meanwhile, during his forensics training at the Miami Metro Police Department, young Dexter perseveres in adhering to this code set by his father.
Clyde Phillips, who was previously in charge of Dexter, took up that role again for the spin-off series. Michael C. Hall not only provides voice-overs for the character’s thoughts but also serves as an executive producer on the show, with Scott Reynolds, Mary Leah Sutton, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns also holding this position.
1) Michael Lehmann, who directed Heathers, is also serving as an executive producer and is at the helm of the show. Paramount has placed bets on the growth of the franchise. Following the prequel series, a sequel titled Dexter: New Blood is currently being developed.
The sequel to the original series, entitled “Dexter: Resurrection,” is in progress at this time, according to Variety. Michael C. Hall will once again take on the role of Dexter for the main character.
