‘Detective Conan: One-Eyed Flashback’ Surpasses ‘The Million-dollar Pentagram,’ Sets Another Franchise Record

A while back, we shared that the Detective Conan: One-Eyed Flashback movie broke the franchise’s opening-day earnings record, taking in approximately 1.05 billion yen (or US$7.4 million) and selling around 690,000 tickets on its first day?

Indeed, the film not only outperformed the previous record held by “The Million-Dollar Pentagram” from last year but also showed potential to establish a fresh benchmark within the franchise in future assessments.

Currently, the initial three-day data from Japan has been received, and we are thrilled to share some fantastic updates with our enthusiasts!

To start off, we’ve just received the weekend box office figures directly from Japan, and for the film “Detective Conan: One-Eyed Flashback”, there’s some fantastic news that was hinted at by the opening numbers.

Over the weekend, the movie raked in approximately $24.15 million and sold 2,314,690 tickets, which is truly impressive. On a daily basis, it made:
– $7.43 million on Friday by selling 697,355 tickets
– $8.75 million on Saturday with 835,908 ticket sales
– $7.96 million on Sunday from 781,427 ticket purchases

This means it earned a total of around $24.15 million over the weekend and sold more than 2 million tickets.

As a movie enthusiast, comparing the opening weekend of the new film to the previous franchise’s record-holder, “The Million-dollar Pentagram,” I find it impressive to see a significant leap in both ticket sales and box office earnings. While “The Million-dollar Pentagram” sold 2,274,333 tickets and grossed approximately US$21.7 million (3,352,494,500 yen), the new film has managed to outshine it by a considerable margin, selling far more tickets and earning substantially more revenue during its first weekend.

In simple terms, “One-Eyed Flashback” surpassed another franchise record, becoming the highest-grossing film on its opening day and during its initial weekend. This bodes well for breaking additional records it previously held last year, which would truly be fantastic!
