As a fan who has followed Anna Delvey’s tale from its very beginning, I must say, it’s quite a rollercoaster ride! It seems that the media and public opinions about her are as dynamic as her own life story. I can’t help but feel a tinge of sympathy for this enigmatic figure who has managed to captivate the world with her audacious exploits and intricate web of deceit.
According to Anna Delvey’s legal representative, she acknowledges and appreciates the apology given by The View for the misleading and disparaging comments they made about her. However, there is some question as to whether the talk show sincerely apologized or not.
On Monday, September 16th, Alyssa Farah Griffin made a statement prior to the episode’s end. This statement was in response to an earlier discussion where Whoopi Goldberg commented about Delvey’s imprisonment in 2017. Griffin expressed skepticism about any transformation in Delvey, saying, “Typically, con artists continue being con artists.
On their show airing on September 5th, the hosts voiced their disapproval about the dance competition series deciding to include Anna Sorokin (also known as Delvey), given her ongoing legal issues and lack of apparent remorse for her crimes, in its upcoming lineup.
After that chat, I encountered a substantial challenge to my claim that she owes money to others, directly from Miss Delvey’s legal representative.
She went on, “He claimed that the statement falsely suggest that she still owes money to the people she defrauded.” The attorney also produced a letter from the Office of Victim Services, which he claims is evidence that all of the victims have received full compensation and that Miss Delvey’s restitution has been paid in full.
After the airing of the episode, Duncan Levin, Delvey’s legal representative, issued a statement to PEOPLE expressing gratitude for The View’s decision to retract their untrue and damaging statements about Ms. Delvey.
It was pointed out that Anna, much like many others, has committed errors, yet what truly stands out is her penance – serving time in prison and settling all her financial obligations. Now, having accepted the apology from The View, it seems fair to give Anna a second chance.
In 2017, Anna Sorokin, who went by the name Delvey, was arrested for deceiving people by pretending to be a wealthy German heiress. She allegedly used this false identity to swindle wealthy individuals, banks, and hotels out of money through fraudulent activities. In 2019, she faced charges of theft, including grand larceny in the first, second, and third degrees.
As reported by Insider, she swiftly settled the court order using the $320,000 she received from Netflix as compensation for selling the rights to transform her life narrative into the TV series “Inventing Anna,” which premiered in 2022.
