Director Denis Villeneuve is beginning the search for the next James Bond, a massive undertaking considering the franchise’s future under Amazon MGM. Once he completes work on *Dune: Part Three*, Villeneuve and his team will be looking for a new, relatively unknown actor to take on the iconic role. While it’s still a mystery who will become the next 007 in *Bond 26*, some potential candidates have already been eliminated from consideration.
According to Deadline, the next James Bond will definitely be a male British actor. This rules out actors like Glen Powell and Austin Butler. Producers are looking for someone in their late 20s or early 30s, meaning they won’t be casting an older actor-sorry, Pierce Brosnan! The team, including those from Fleming and Villeneuve, wants a Bond who is a powerful and direct force.
It’s strange that they seem to want the new James Bond to be a bit bland, even though he’s known for such an exciting life. He’ll almost certainly be tall and good-looking – it’s James Bond, after all! There’s also talk of him potentially being a person of color, which would be a really welcome and interesting change.
It will be interesting to see which actor Denis Villeneuve and Amazon MGM choose as the next James Bond – they’ve certainly got a lucky and promising search ahead of them.
