It’s February 2024, and with the official TV debut of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season Four still a few months away, here at Fiction Horizon we were lucky enough to see the recap/preview film – Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training! This movie quickly revisits the key moments from the end of Season Three and offers a sneak peek at what’s coming in the first episodes of Season Four, which will cover the Hashira Training Arc. As always, we want to share our thoughts on the movie and give you an idea of what to anticipate from the new season of the series.
Regarding the fourth season, we haven’t received an official release date yet, but it’s planned for release in Spring. The season will cover the Hashira Training Arc, which is relatively short in the manga. It’s currently unclear how many episodes the new season will have. However, if the creators want to make a season with a typical number of episodes, they might add extra content from the light novels or create some new, anime-exclusive scenes.
This story arc served as a build-up to the ultimate battle against Muzan and the last of the Upper Moons, highlighting the incredible abilities and unique qualities of the Hashira, and the unwavering resolve of our heroes to defeat him. While the arc centers around training and the characters’ development, it will also delve into their personal histories, giving us a deeper understanding of their motivations and inner worlds. This was hinted at in the movie, and we’re excited to see these characters explored with more detail soon.
As a standalone release, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training follows a familiar pattern, much like we saw with To the Swordsmith Village. This isn’t new for the series. In terms of production, the technical aspects and animation are excellent, and because it’s part of the main anime, the animation quality is consistent. If you’re a fan of Demon Slayer’s visual style, you’ll likely enjoy this movie too.
From a storytelling perspective, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training is a compelling mix. It begins with a fast-paced review of the first two seasons, highlighting the key events that led up to the final showdown with Hantengu (the fight with Gyokko was only shown in short clips), allowing us to relive the spectacular battle that culminated in Nezuko overcoming the Sun. This isn’t groundbreaking – it essentially served as the movie’s recap – but it effectively sets the stage for the fourth season and provides a helpful refresher for viewers who may need it.

Naturally, we’re most excited about the new content, but we won’t reveal any further details beyond what’s already been mentioned. The new material begins with a compelling scene featuring Obanai and Sanemi in action, hinting at what’s to come in the series’ final arc. This was a somewhat unusual way to start a season, but what we’ve seen in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training gives us reason to believe this brief story arc will be quite engaging and packed with interesting developments. Following this, the series shifts its attention to the Hashira Training, allowing us to learn more about the Hashira themselves and the dynamics between them. It’s a promising setup.
In that regard, the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training movie effectively prepares the way for a new season, and it leaves viewers eager to see what happens next. The movie ends at a good point, meaning those who watch it can expect a satisfying conclusion that also introduces the upcoming episodes of the fourth season.
With everything considered, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training works really well as a recap and preview movie. The editing was fantastic, the music choices were nostalgic, and overall, it’s a very enjoyable experience that leaves you eager for more Demon Slayer – and luckily, we won’t have to wait long!
