The anime film *Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle* is a huge success in US theaters, shattering box office records.
In just one month of release in U.S. theaters, the movie has become the highest-earning foreign film in American history, according to Global Box Office.
According to Box Office Mojo, the movie has made over $128.6 million in the U.S. and is still playing in theaters.
The film *Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle* has now earned more in the U.S. than the critically acclaimed *Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon*. *Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle* is a Japanese animated action film with dark fantasy elements.
This movie continues the story from the fourth season of the *Demon Slayer* anime and is based on the “Infinity Castle” arc of Koyoharu Gotouge’s original manga (2016–2020). It follows the events of previous *Demon Slayer* films, like *Mugen Train* (2020), *To the Swordsmith Village* (2023), and *To the Hashira Training* (2024). Haruo Sotozaki directed the film, and the animation was produced by Ufotable, with the script written by the studio’s team.
Get ready for the epic conclusion! Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle arrives in theaters September 12th. The film features the songs “A World Where the Sun Never Rises” by Aimer and “Shine in the Cruel Night” by LiSA.

Unlike earlier films like *Swordsmith Village* and *Hashira Training*, which were essentially collections of TV episodes, *Infinity Castle* is a completely new, full-length movie. It has a big, sweeping story that deserves the movie treatment, much like *Mugen Train*. Plus, this film is just the beginning – it’s the first of three movies announced in June 2024, immediately following the end of the fourth season.
The first part of the *Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba* movie, officially called *Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns*, first launched in Japan on July 18th, distributed by Aniplex and Toho. Crunchyroll, working with Sony Pictures Releasing, then released it in some Asian countries in August, and later expanded its availability internationally in September.
The movie has been a huge success, earning $648 million around the world and breaking several box office records. It’s now the most successful Japanese film ever made, the top international film at the U.S. box office, and ranks as the fifth-highest-grossing film worldwide this year.
Most reviewers really enjoyed the movie, highlighting its thrilling action, beautiful imagery, and captivating plot. A few people did suggest the story could have flowed a little better.
