In the world of Demon Slayer, nothing showcases the series’ emotional depth and intense action quite like the tales of the Hashira. These top-tier warriors, both male and female, represent the epitome of power within the Demon Slayer organization.
Nonetheless, numerous Hashiras faced heartbreaking demises during their conflict with Muzan Kibutsuji and the Upper Moons. Delve deeper into the narrative to uncover details about each fallen Hashira, the specific chapters where these events transpired, and the sequence of their untimely departures.
1. Flower Hashira, Kanae Kocho
In chapter 141 of Demon Slayer, Kanae is brutally slain by Upper Moon 2, Doma, as we witness in a flashback. Tragically, she breathes her last in the arms of Shinobu, her death leaving behind a powerful motivation for her sister to seek vengeance.
2. Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku
In chapter 66 of Demon Slayer, or episode 33 of the anime, Rengoku meets his end following an intense duel with Akaza during the Mugen Train storyline. Throughout the battle, he showed incredible bravery while putting others’ safety first, eventually sacrificing himself in a noble stance.
3. Insect Hashira, Shinobu Kocho
In chapter 163 of Demon Slayer, it is Shinobu who meets her tragic demise, orchestrated by Doma. Since she couldn’t defeat him in a physical battle, she chose a different strategy – poisoning herself with wisteria, a deadly toxin that would ultimately claim the life of Doma as well.
4. Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito
In Chapter 179 of Demon Slayer, it’s Muichiro who meets his end. Before succumbing to his mortal wounds, he manages to deliver the final, crucial strike against Kokushibo. Despite his youth, his actions prove to be decisive in the battle.
5. Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji
In the 200th chapter of Demon Slayer, Mitsuri ultimately loses her battle against her injuries. Together with Obanai, they aid Tanjiro during the climactic battle, but neither manages to make it through the ensuing chaos in the end.
6. Serpent Hashira, Obanai Iguro
In Chapter 200 of Demon Slayer, Obanai meets his end not long after Mitsuri. Before they both departed, they shared their feelings and professed their love, praying for a chance to reunite in their next lives.
7. Stone Hashira, Gyomei Himejima
In Chapter 200 of Demon Slayer, Gyomei succumbs to his critical wounds following the climactic fight, and in his last moments, he imagines the young ones he used to nurture.
At the conclusion of the manga, only three Hashira – Giyu Tomioka (Water), Tengen Uzui (Sound), and Sanemi Shinazugawa (Wind) – are still alive. However, their futures past the age of 25, due to the curse associated with the Demon Slayer Mark, remain unclear for both Giyu and Sanemi.
