DEMON SLAYER and MLB Collab for Anime Short Film

There’s no mistake in what you see – it’s accurate! The headline announces an unforeseen partnership between the renowned manga and anime series, “Demon Slayer,” and Major League Baseball, specifically for their Tokyo Series featuring the Los Angeles Dodgers versus the Chicago Cubs. The video below showcases players teaming up with beloved characters from “Demon Slayer” such as Tanjiro and his mentor Urokodaki. This trailer is a sneak peek of a larger collaboration between MLB and Demon Slayer, with related merchandise available during the Tokyo Series.

In the movie, Urokodaki serves as a commentator for the Tokyo Series. He provides an overview of Major League Baseball’s history in Japan and how baseball has developed there. Similar to the series, we watch Urokodaki instruct Tanjiro on breathing methods. Later, Ohtani applies his unique approach to execute “Battle Breathing first form: Overpowering Home Run.

In a collaboration between Ufotable, a renowned Japanese animation studio known for Demon Slayer, and MLB (Major League Baseball), a short film has been produced showcasing both anime and baseball. This movie features animated versions of well-known MLB players such as Shohei Ohtani from the Dodgers, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Mookie Betts, Seiya Suzuki, Shota Imanaga, and Dansby Swanson. The action unfolds during the Tokyo Series at the Tokyo Dome on March 18th and 19th, where these players will compete against each other as a prelude to the 2025 regular season.

On the 15th and 16th of March, I’ll be attending four exhibition matches. In these games, both the Cubs and Dodgers will face off against two renowned Japanese teams – the Hanshin Tigers and the Yomiuri Giants. These teams are part of the Nippon Professional Baseball league in Japan.
