Demi Moore (63) Is Still Gorgeous 34 Years After ‘A Few Good Men’

Looking back, I remember being so impressed with Demi Moore in A Few Good Men – it really felt like a turning point in her career, and she’s always seemed to take risks, both in the roles she chooses and in her life. After that, and especially after G.I. Jane, she stepped back from Hollywood to focus on her family. She moved to Hailey, Idaho, and really prioritized raising her three daughters.

She wasn’t gone completely, though. She’d pop up in things occasionally, like in the 2000 film Passion of Mind, where she played a woman with a really complex psychological condition. Everyone said she was great in it, but it didn’t really catch on with audiences. She later talked about how she was going through a tough time personally – her mother passed away, and she was getting divorced – and that made it hard to fully dedicate herself to the movie.

Demi Moore made a noticeable comeback in 2003 with Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, where she played a villain created just for her. Her appearance in a swimsuit generated a lot of buzz, and some felt her performance overshadowed the main characters, leading Moore to consider her position in Hollywood.

Despite the film’s success – earning over $259 million worldwide – Moore stepped back from acting, focusing on modeling for brands like Versace and Helena Rubinstein. Throughout the mid-2000s, she balanced roles in serious dramas with ensemble casts.

She delivered a compelling performance as a grieving author in Half Light (2006) and rejoined Emilio Estevez in Bobby, playing an alcoholic singer and receiving a Screen Actors Guild nomination as part of the film’s cast.

Moore also starred alongside Michael Caine in Flawless (2007), portraying an American executive involved in a diamond robbery, and showcased her talent for thrillers and crime dramas with a complex role as a police officer in Mr. Brooks.

I first really noticed her talent behind the camera with a short film called Streak back in 2008 – it even starred her daughter, Rumer! Then, in 2009, she appeared in Happy Tears and The Joneses, and people were really talking about both the movie’s sharp satire and her performance. She kept taking on interesting roles, often smaller but really impactful. I remember being surprised to see her in the action film Bunraku in 2010, and then she was fantastic in the tense drama Margin Call the following year, alongside Kevin Spacey and Paul Bettany. She wasn’t just in front of the camera either; she even directed a segment for the Lifetime anthology Five, and got nominated by the Directors Guild for it, which is seriously impressive!

Throughout the 2010s, Julianne Moore began taking on more subtle and realistic roles. She often portrayed mothers, wives, and women facing difficult situations in films like LOL (2012), Very Good Girls (2013), Forsaken (2015), and Blind (2017). She also appeared in the TV series Empire and the comedy Rough Night (2017), and expanded her work internationally with the film Love Sonia (2018). In 2019, her memoir, Inside Out, became a New York Times bestseller, offering an honest account of her life and career.
