‘Definitely Bittersweet’: The Umbrella Academy Cast Reunite At Fourth And Final Season Premiere

As a dedicated fan who has followed The Umbrella Academy since its inception, I can wholeheartedly say that this show has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride through time and emotions. Watching Emmy Raver-Lampman, Aiden Gallagher, Eliot Page, and the rest of the cast grow both on and off screen has been an absolute joy. It’s like we’ve all grown up together, from the chaotic family dynamics to the heartwarming friendships that have transcended the small screen.

The Umbrella Academy is preparing for its fourth and last season, and recently, the cast gathered at the premiere to share memories of their journey together.

Emmy Raver-Lampman, who portrays Allison Hargreeves, described the season as “a mix of joy and sadness.” In an interview with People, she reminisced about the “wonderful six-plus years” spent with her castmates. She expressed that they’ve grown close off-screen as well, stating, “What makes this experience special is that I’ve made lifelong friends.”

Aiden Gallagher, who was just 13 when he tried out for the unpredictable and time-traveling character Five, has certainly come a long way since then. He recently expressed that it’s been both a significant amount of time and an honor to be part of this journey, stating “It’s been a pleasure to live through all of this.” The now 20-year-old actor described the experience as “simply delightful.”

In the series, Eliot Page plays the role of Viktor Hargreeves, who stands out as the most powerful among his siblings. The actor was impressed by the development of his character throughout the storyline. Initially, Viktor struggled with understanding his identity and powers. However, by the final season, he had transformed into a confident individual.

The series consistently excels at maintaining an unforeseen yet captivating narrative, with each season presenting a unique tale and timeline that deviates from the last. The upcoming final season is no exception to this trend. In the finale of the third season, we saw the Hargreaves siblings travel to a timeframe where their rough and inventive father Reginald (Colm Feore) and Ben (Justin H. Min) were still alive. However, they found themselves powerless, a stark contrast to how they had been in previous seasons.

In the absence of their abilities, they must survive on their own, seeking a fresh equilibrium – an accomplishment that differs greatly among them. However, the allure of this mysterious, almost supernatural environment is difficult to resist for a prolonged period. This was the gist of the official summary.

Reginald manages a sinister conglomerate, secretly gathering for discussions on whether the world they inhabit is genuine or a deceitful facade. As his wicked schemes intensify, the brother and sister find themselves compelled to abandon their tranquility and join forces for one final confrontation.

Since its debut in 2019, The Umbrella Academy, derived from its namesake comic book series penned by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá, has garnered a total of seven Emmy nominations. In an earlier interview with PEOPLE, David Castañeda, who portrays Diego, discussed the suspenseful ending of season three.

He genuinely enjoys the aspect that they don’t possess superpowers, as The Umbrella Academy was primarily focused on relationships rather than powers, he explained. At the premiere, he assured fans that they would experience many humorous and touching moments among the siblings, accompanied by their constant bickering!

The Umbrella Academy season 4 premieres August 8 on Netflix.
