DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE’s Post-Credits Scene, Explained

As a longtime fan of the X-Men universe, I’ve always had a soft spot for Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch. His brash personality and fiery powers have always made him an exciting character to follow. But boy, did things take a turn for the worse in “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

Johnny Storm, unfortunately, found himself in a precarious situation alongside Deadpool and Wolverine against Cassandra Nova’s minions in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” During their capture, the Human Torch tried to evade detection until they were all brought to Nova’s compound. However, Deadpool’s infamous loose tongue resulted in him blabbing about Johnny’s supposed betrayal of the Void despot during their drive. Though Johnny protested his innocence, Nova didn’t believe him and brutally stripped his skin off. The reason for Wade’s deceitful claims and the endangerment of Johnny remains unclear. The post-credits scene in “Deadpool & Wolverine” hinted that Deadpool may not have been entirely truthful about this event (most likely).

What transpired regarding Chris Evans’ other Marvel character? Let’s examine the post-credits scene and decipher its seemingly insignificant yet amusing implications.

When Deadpool encountered Cassandra Nova, he couldn’t help but blabber right away about the supposedly wicked deeds of Charles Xavier’s twin, as shared by Johnny Storm. Deadpool went on and on, painting a colorful picture filled with insults, curses, threats, and brags. The more Wade talked, the more frantic Johnny begged Nova not to believe him. He swore his innocence until she reduced him to a pitiful pile of flesh and bone.

As a longtime fan of the X-Men universe, I’ve seen my fair share of complex character dynamics and unexpected twists. But the relationship between Wade Wilson aka Deadpool, and Logan aka Wolverine, has always stood out to me for its unique blend of humor, violence, and underlying respect.

Did Wade fabricate or exaggerate the truth about Johnny’s behavior in the recorded video for his own benefit? Was the video evidence manipulated to clear Wade of any wrongdoing? Or was the footage merely an addition to the pile of falsehoods intended to conceal the true events that led to the Human Torch’s predicament? The humor relies on the authenticity of Johnny making such remarks to a gullible listener.

Wade’s humor-filled actions in both scenes raise valid concerns as well. While Wolverine didn’t argue with Deadpool’s statements to Nova, he was concerned about Johnny’s safety and attempted to intervene. It’s not surprising that the impulsive and boastful Johnny might blabber carelessly. He simply didn’t realize the danger in speaking openly around Deadpool, who possesses a significantly larger arsenal of weapons.

In simpler terms, this post-credits scene for Deadpool in the MCU doesn’t hold significant importance. It was mainly included as an amusing extra. However, if we look for a deeper meaning, it indicates that Deadpool can still break the fourth wall despite the end of Fox’s Marvel films. This implies that he may continue to do so if he appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe once more.

Johnny Storm, aka Human Torch, won’t be present when Deadpool and Wolverine have their post-credits scene in the MCU. Let’s hope other Human Torch versions heeded their lesson from these two talkative heroes and stayed quiet if they encounter one with an even more boisterous personality.
