Deadpool & Wolverine Nearly Included X-Men’s Bizarre Villain Mojo And His X-Babies

As a lifelong Marvel enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of these iconic characters since their comic book inceptions, I must say that Deadpool & Wolverine has truly outshone all expectations. The third installment of the Deadpool franchise not only surpassed box office records but also served as the much-needed savior of the MCU after a series of losses.

The third film in the Deadpool series, starring Deadpool and Wolverine, has been shattering box office records and has earned more than a billion dollars. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reprise their roles as Deadpool (Wade Wilson) and Wolverine (Logan). This movie solidified Deadpool’s status as Marvel’s savior, helping the MCU recover from consecutive losses.

The Deadpool & Wolverine movie was filled with unexpected appearances by both old and new characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, such as Electra, Blade, X-23, Gambit, Johnny Storm, among others. In addition to these characters, there were also numerous versions of Deadpool and Wolverine. Initially, it was planned to incorporate one of the most famous X-Men antagonists, Mojo, along with his X-babies. Recently, Marvel Studios’ visual development head Andy Park unveiled a series of film art concepts.

Andy Park took to his Instagram handle and shared an X-baby Wolverine’s concept art. In the picture, a young and angry baby Wolverine can be seen posing. Sharing the concept art series, Andy wrote in the caption, “DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE film concept art series: X-Baby Wolverine! This is not in the film, but how fun would it have been to see this Mojo X-Baby come to life? I was huge fan of what @chrisclearmountain & @arthuradamsart did in those Uncanny X-Men annuals. This piece (& more) will also be included in the upcoming The Art of Deadpool and Wolverine.”

In a recent development, Deadpool and Wolverine encountered Jennifer Garner, Wesley Snipes, and Chris Evans taking up their iconic roles once more as Electra, Blade, and the Human Torch (Johnny Storm). Earlier this year, Snipes hinted at potential cameos but expressed doubts about his involvement. He admitted, “I never thought it would be feasible. I didn’t believe we could make it happen.”

Wesley Snipes went on to say, “I didn’t believe Marvel was interested, but Disney was – this was partly due to Mahershala Ali being cast for the next version. It didn’t seem right to me, but when an unexpected call came from Ryan Reynolds after 20 years, I knew I had to answer. That’s when he shared his idea with me: ‘They said yes, it’s a go. If you’re in, we’re in.’ And here we are.”

Shawn Levy’s direction boasted an exceptional ensemble of actors, with some unexpected guest appearances too. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman stuck to their original characters, while Matthew Macfadyen took on the role of Paradox, Emma Corrin portrayed Cassandra Nova, Morena Baccarin reprised Vanessa Carlysle, and several others assumed significant roles in the storyline.
