At Coachella, Deadmau5 expressed regret and apologized for his disheveled stage presence during his scheduled performance on the Quasar stage on April 18th, which was attributed to excessive alcohol consumption prior to the event.
Despite sharing a sequence of explanatory posts on Instagram, the artist admitted to questionable actions and expressed regret for acting irrationally. Initially slated to share the stage with Zhu, they were set to entertain the crowd for extended periods.
During his performance, Deadmau5 appeared to have consumed excess alcohol, as he struggled with his words at times. Later in the show, he stumbled and had to be assisted off the stage by security personnel after falling from the DJ booth.
Speaking for myself, I can’t help but passionately defend my idol on social media. You see, he swears he doesn’t recall anything that transpired, and he emphasizes his recent pledge to abstain from smoking, having given it up weeks prior.
In a post featuring a water bottle, the musician stated, “I can’t recall anything. I’m not sure if I smoked a cigarette though, so… that’s a positive, I suppose? Time for more sleep. Wake me up around Thursday-ish.” Additionally, in the comments section, the artist noted, “This might have been my final Coachella performance.
Afterward, Deadmau5 posted a photo of his cat, expressing that even his feline companion seems disapproving due to his mistake at the music festival.
In continuation of his apology, the DJ added, “Sorry about last night.”
He continued by saying, “To be honest, I thought the first three quarters were fantastic! A big thank you to @zhu for introducing me to whisky and guiding me through until the very end. I need to quit smoking, take some personal time at home, find my spirit animal, work on new music, and return stronger.
Coachella ended on April 19, with a lineup of artists performing at the event.
