As a seasoned gamer and comic book enthusiast with a penchant for cosmic adventures, I am beyond thrilled about the upcoming DCU projects, particularly the Lanterns series. The star-studded cast and creative team behind this project are a testament to its potential greatness.
At the helm of the DC Universe (DCU), there are numerous ongoing projects being meticulously supervised by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Among the forthcoming releases, an animated series titled “Creature Commandos” and a new “Superman” movie scheduled for 2025 stand out. Additionally, several live-action shows featuring prominent DC characters are also in development.
Lately, there’s been a flurry of news about the upcoming “Lanterns” series, a space-bound detective tale starring three prominent Green Lanterns. It’s now official that Nathan Fillion will play the role of Guy Gardner.
Kyle Chandler is set to play Hal Jordan in the upcoming series, despite some fans’ apprehensions about the actor’s age. The main question now revolves around John Stewart’s casting, as he plays a significant role since the show seems to be centered on him, with Hal taking on a mentor position. Since the producers have opted for an older Hal Jordan (Josh Brolin was also considered), there’s speculation that either Hal will retire or meet his demise by the series finale.
A variety of potential candidates have been discussed for the role of John Stewart, but The Hollywood Reporter has offered some concrete insights. Among them, Aaron Pierre and Stephan James appear to be the leading contenders, whereas Damson Idris had to withdraw due to scheduling issues.
The series titled “Lanterns” has been given a direct-to-production greenlight by HBO, boasting an impressive lineup of creative minds behind it. Notably, Chris Mundy (“Ozark”), Damon Lindelof (“Watchmen”, “Lost”), and Eisner Award-winning comic book writer Tom King will serve as executive producers and writers for the show, with Mundy taking on the role of the series’ showrunner.
As a gamer, I’m Aaron Pierre, and I’ve made quite a name for myself in the world of acting. Known for my roles as Caesar in ‘The Underground Railroad’ and Brandon in M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Old’, I’ve also graced the screens in ‘The Last Tree’, ‘Britannia’, and ‘The King’s Man’. Originally, I was slated to appear in the MCU’s reboot of ‘Blade’, but in the end, I decided to step away from that project.
Stephan James is well-known for playing John Lewis in the critically acclaimed movie “Selma” and sharing the screen with Julia Roberts in the Amazon series “Homecoming”. He’s also gained recognition for his acting in “If Beale Street Could Talk”, where he played Fonny, and in the Netflix film “Race”, where he depicted Jesse Owens.
