DC’s Highly Successful ‘Absolute’ Line Will Add Three New Titles in Early 2025

As a die-hard DC Comics fan with over 20 years of collecting under my belt, I can confidently say that I am beyond thrilled about the upcoming Absolute Universe releases! The prospect of seeing these iconic characters reimagined as underdogs struggling without their usual powers and resources is an exciting twist that promises to breathe new life into the DC universe.

I’ve been following the success of Absolute Batman and Absolute Superman this year, and I can’t wait to see how Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and The Flash will be portrayed in their respective series. The fact that they are releasing on the same day (March 19 for Green Lantern and Flash, March 26 for Martian Manhunter) means I’ll have a triple-header of amazing comics to sink my teeth into!

I can hardly contain my excitement as I envision the challenges each character will face in their new, powerless states. The thought of Green Lantern battling without his ring or willpower is intriguing, and I’m eager to see how Jeff Lemire will explore a Flash without the Speed Force, mentor, or family. And let’s not forget Deniz Camp’s take on Martian Manhunter, who seems poised to transcend his physical form and become an even more powerful and mysterious figure.

The hints of introducing well-known villains into the Absolute Universe have me on the edge of my seat! I can only imagine the unexpected twists and turns these stories will take as the heroes navigate their new circumstances with the likes of Scarecrow, Mr. Freeze, and Bane lurking in the shadows.

All in all, the Absolute Universe is shaping up to be a game-changer for DC Comics, and I can’t wait to see how these stories unfold. And as a bonus, if these series are anything like their predecessors, I might even need to start saving up for second printings!

Oh, and let me tell you a little joke – What do you call a Green Lantern with no ring? A cor-pony! (Get it? Because he can’t “cor”dinate without his power ring!)

DC Comics is growing its “All-Encompassing Universe” with three fresh titles coming in March 2025. These new releases are a continuation of the success of “Ultimate Batman,” “Ultimate Superman,” and “Ultimate Wonder Woman.” The upcoming series will delve into the stories of “Ultimate Green Lantern,” “Ultimate Martian Manhunter,” and “Ultimate Flash.

In a fresh, modernized interpretation, the All-Powerful Cosmos recasts beloved DC characters as ordinary individuals lacking their traditional powers and assets. These heroes are faced with trials that surpass their original legendary backstories.

The all-encompassing Universe has caused a stir in the comic book industry, as titles like Absolute Batman and Absolute Superman have quickly sold out and required reprints this year. In response, DC Comics revised the reprinted editions with fresh cover artwork.

In Al Ewing’s series titled “Absolute Green Lantern, ” the protagonist is compelled to battle without the aid of the Green Lantern Corps, his ring, or typical determination. Known as the “Absolute Green Lantern,” this revamped version will be available on shelves starting from March 19, 2025.

In the upcoming comic book “Absolute Flash,” penned by Jeff Lemire, we delve into a unique take on the Flash character who is missing key aspects that usually enable him to manage his powers. Without the Speed Force, guidance from a mentor, and the supportive family he’s accustomed to, this new Flash will be tested to his maximum potential. The initial issue of this series drops on March 19, 2025.

Titled “Absolute Martian Manhunter,” penned by Deniz Camp, this series aims to delve deeper than the traditional origin tale of J’onn J’onzz. It offers a portrayal of the Martian Manhunter that surpasses his physical form, transforming into a more potent and enigmatic entity. The initial issue is set for launch on March 26, 2025.

Indications point towards the emergence of some of DC Comics’ iconic villains in the grand scheme of the Universe labeled as ‘Absolute’. In the series titled ‘Absolute Batman’, Scarecrow, Mr. Freeze, and Bane are anticipated to make appearances. With Bruce Wayne finding a new path through Gotham after losing his fortune and assets, it’s reasonable to expect similar twists for the heroes of this new ‘Absolute’ Universe as their narratives unfold in unpredictable directions.
