As a die-hard fan who has been following the DC Universe since the days of Superman and Batman comic books, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming season 2 of Peacemaker. The fact that James Gunn and Peter Safran are creating a new cinematic universe based on DC Comics characters is nothing short of exhilarating.
James Gunn and Peter Safran are putting in a great effort to establish a fresh cinematic world centered around DC Comics characters, following the tumultuous DCEU. One of the key initiatives that will move forward post-“reboot” is Gunn’s own production, Peacemaker, which will return for a second season as part of the new DC Universe.
The top executive at DC Studios affirmatively stated that the storyline of “Peacemaker” Season 2 will align with the continuity of the DC Universe (DCU). They ensured fans that the shift from the DCEU (DC Extended Universe) to the DCU, particularly for “Peacemaker,” will be seamless and uncomplicated, providing a straightforward progression without any perplexing confusion.
Consequently, certain characters from the DC Extended Universe, such as Steve Agee, who portrayed John Economos in “The Suicide Squad” and “Peacemaker”, are set to persist within this fresh universe.
Agree, set to feature in the upcoming series titled “Creature Commandos“, hinted at his forthcoming character portrayal with a touch of enigma:
I’m unsure about the plot points beyond Creature Commandos in Peacemaker’s season 2, as I’m currently filming here in Savannah, Georgia. We’re almost wrapping up production and should finish by Monday, marking the end of this season. As for Economos, I can’t reveal any details just yet. There are many exciting things I wish I could share with you now, but all I can say is to stay tuned for the upcoming episodes! [laughs]
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m all hyped up about it! Peacemaker’s second season is shaping up to have an even grander, more universe-encompassing tale, hinted by Agee himself. And get this, he’s not kidding around when he says more characters will join the fray in the upcoming season.
This upcoming story promises an even grander narrative, with a larger cast of characters than before. It’s set against a vast backdrop that fans of the first season are sure to find captivating. In essence, if you enjoyed season 1, I believe you’ll be thrilled with what season 2 has in store.

Recently, Gunn made clear that most of the events in “Peacemaker” Season 1 fall within the established canon. However, he specified that scenes involving the Justice League do not apply to the new continuity. He added that for anything to be officially recognized as part of this new timeline, it must appear in projects like “Creature Commandos” or any future DCU productions.
In the series Creature Commandos, they may refer to events from Suicide Squad or Peacemaker. Consequently, these events are officially recognized as part of the storyline.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve got to spill the beans: Most of what unfolds in Peacemaker aligns with the established lore, except for the Justice League bits, which we’ll tackle head-on in the upcoming season of Peacemaker. Stay tuned!
