On the May 5, 2025 episode of Days of Our Lives, viewers see EJ contemplating the night his son was gunned down. It’s at this point when Chanel bursts in, challenging him about their past adoption turmoil.
She reveals to EJ that Johnny is experiencing an identity crisis, a predicament EJ inadvertently triggered. Feeling remorseful, EJ asks if there’s anything he can do to rectify the situation. Chanel, however, is direct; she tells him that by taking away Johnny’s joy, he has earned their eternal hatred towards him.
Afterward, Marlena shares with Chanel about Johnny’s deep sadness and his strong affection for her. Chanel acknowledges her own feelings for him, but also confides that he caused her significant pain.
In their encounter, Marlena counsels EJ to let his son have some independence. She further probes whether EJ suspects Johnny of shooting him. However, EJ firmly believes that Johnny is incapable of such a deed, especially against his own father. He implores Marlena to convey to Johnny that he will always stand by him, regardless of Johnny’s feelings.
In an unexpected turn of events, Chanel encounters Johnny. Despite her fury, she expresses her desire to have a conversation with him. She confides in him about empathizing with his perspective, but also mentions that it’s crucial for him to take time to accept the reality that he didn’t wish to adopt or be a father.
Johnny thanks Chanel for her patience and inquires about her willingness to forgive him. But Chanel indicates she’s still not quite there yet. In response, Johnny swears to take whatever steps necessary to mend their relationship.
Simultaneously, Steve and Shawn talk about their scheme to snatch the drug from Dr. Russell. Steve proposes enlisting Kayla’s help. Although she dislikes law-breaking, her deep affection for Bo could make her reconsider.
Later on, Shawn shares with Johnny the grim state of Bo’s health and the unavailability of treatment options. As their discussion turns towards EJ, Johnny confesses that he was significantly impacted upon discovering his actions. This revelation also strained his marriage. Shawn suggests Johnny to allow Chanel some space and reminds him that parenthood is a round-the-clock responsibility.
