Days Of Our Lives Chief Writer Ron Carlivati Is Leaving Peacock’s Hit Soap Opera After Seven Years; DETAILS

As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for the world of daytime soap operas and the intricacies of behind-the-scenes production, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions upon learning about Ron Carlivat’s departure from Days of Our Lives after seven tumultuous years. Having closely followed the industry and this show in particular, I’ve come to understand that the role of head writer carries immense weight and responsibility.

For the past seven years, I, Ron Carlivat, have had the privilege of leading the writing team for Peacock’s beloved soap opera, Days of Our Lives, through some challenging times. However, I’ve decided it’s time for me to hang up my quill and retire from the show. Starting in my absence, Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford will take over as head writers. Because of Days of Our Lives distinctive tape-to-air production schedule, the final episodes penned by yours truly will air in April 2025.

DOOL head writer Carlivat quits after seven years

Ron Carlivat has announced his departure from Days of Our Lives after seven years as head writer. This news comes following a challenging tenure marked by an extensive nine-week inquiry into misconduct accusations involving long-term director and co-executive producer, Albert Alarr, as reported by Deadline back in July.

As an obsessed fan, I can’t help but feel deeply troubled by the allegations made against the DOOL set. I’ve always cherished this show and the people who bring it to life. But recently, some female employees have spoken up about their experiences, and I can’t ignore their voices. They’ve shared stories of inappropriate comments and unwanted physical advances, like groping and forced kisses. And they’ve described a work environment that feels downright toxic. It breaks my heart to think that this could be happening on the very same set that has given me so much joy over the years. I hope that those in charge take these allegations seriously and make changes to ensure that everyone working on DOOL is treated with respect and dignity.

Even after Alarr left the show last year, his departure negatively affected its fanbase’s perception. Meanwhile, upon Carlivat’s exit, the show’s Executive Producer, Ken Corday, issued a statement expressing good wishes for his future career moves.

I’m utterly thrilled and can’t contain my excitement as I express my heartfelt well-wishes towards Ron. His unwavering commitment and the reverence he’s shown me, the cast, and the cherished legacy of our show, leaves me in awe. Plus, I’m eagerly anticipating the creation of captivating and rejuvenated stories with the brilliant new writing team!

Who will be replacing Carlivat as writer on the show

Skilled writers Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford will step in for Carlivat’s role on Days Of Our Lives. With impressive resumes, Cwikly has a background in daytime television writing, having worked on shows like The Young and The Restless, As The World Turns, and Sunset Beach. In the early 2000s, she served as an associate and head writer for Days Of Our Lives.

Marie Ford presently functions as a scriptbreaker for the writing crew of the television program, and she joined this soap opera back in 1992. Additionally, she penned down “As The World Turns” and “One Life To Live.”

Next year, Paula and Jeanne Marie will lead us as we celebrate our 60th anniversary, bringing new and engaging tales that are sure to be welcomed by our loyal fans, according to Corday’s announcement.

NBC/Peacock’s longest-running series, “Days of Our Lives,” first aired in 1965 and has since then successfully completed sixty seasons. Its storied history continues as the show has been extended, running through September 2025.
