David Harbour Exits Tony Gilroy’s “Behemoth,” Insiders Cite “Stranger Things” as Reason

David Harbour is no longer involved in the upcoming film “Behemoth!,” a drama directed by Tony Gilroy and produced by Searchlight Pictures.

A studio spokesperson told Variety that David Harbour is no longer involved with the project.

Originally, Harbour was going to appear in a project with Pedro Pascal and Olivia Wilde. However, sources say he was too tired after finishing the last season of ‘Stranger Things’ to take on the role.

After a lengthy filming schedule and lots of publicity, David Harbour needed a break. The show is now looking for someone new to take on his role, but they haven’t revealed who it will be yet. His team hasn’t responded to questions about the change.

“Behemoth!” tells the story of a musician who comes home to Los Angeles, a city celebrated for its film music and the artists behind it. The film is written and directed by Tony Gilroy, who previously made “Michael Clayton.” He’s producing the movie with Sanne Wohlenberg.

Actor Harbour has openly discussed his experiences with mental health. After being diagnosed with bipolar disorder at 26, he explained to Variety in 2022 that conversations about mental health tend to focus too heavily on difficult or tragic aspects. He believes these discussions should be more inclusive and acknowledge the full spectrum of human experience. He feels we often define ‘normal’ in a way that overlooks the diverse experiences everyone has, and that we should strive to appreciate those differences.
