As a fan who’s been through my fair share of superhero transformations, I can confidently say that Tyler Hoechlin to Kal-El and Henry Cavill to Superman were impressive journeys, but nothing quite prepares you for the metamorphosis of Corenswet into the Man of Steel. His life experiences have been a rollercoaster ride, from his limited time bulking up for Hollywood to the rigorous professional training he underwent for this iconic role.
2025 promises to be a thrilling year for DC Studios. While ‘Creature Commandos’ is set to debut in December, it’s important to note that ‘Superman’ will serve as the kick-off for the DC Universe, according to Gunn and Safran.
In this newly created film universe, we’re greeted with a novel portrayal of Superman, played by Corenswet. Although some fans were disheartened by Henry Cavill stepping away from the Man of Steel, the initial glimpses of Corenswet’s convincing transformation into a superhero quickly put the doubters at ease.
In a recent chat on the ‘Manly Things (More or Less)’ podcast, Corenswet opened up about previous acting jobs and divulged his journey of gaining muscle, specifically for the TV show ‘Hollywood.’
The actor disclosed that he had a small window to build muscle mass, often resorting to dietary errors in order to increase his size rapidly.
“I aspired to become more prominent, perhaps even reaching Hollywood fame around 2019. Just before that, I felt like my breakthrough was imminent. However, I only had a month’s time left before filming began, so I was making every effort to prepare during that short period.
Back in 2019, I thought increasing my food intake from 190 to 195 was a big deal. But now, just a spoonful of Greek yogurt seems like more than I could handle!
Essentially, Corey’s metamorphosis into Superman, if you will, was largely orchestrated in a professional setting, adhering to established procedures. His personal coach, Paolo Mascitti, revealed that the actor had an astonishingly high daily calorie intake.
He consumed approximately 6,000 calories daily, and while his diet was restrictive, it wasn’t quite as stringent as I would’ve preferred.
In the podcast, I got insights into his daily eating routine, which he referred to as a “typical person’s environment,” encompassing three main meals and protein shakes throughout the day. Interestingly, he shared that he often indulges in a Greek yogurt carton before bedtime.
Corenswet added that there was a time when he couldn’t fit into any of his pants.
At the beginning of our shoot, I hadn’t weighed 238 pounds. Instead, that was my peak weight. My clothes didn’t fit properly due to it.
Regardless, we are eager to see Corenswet take on the role of Superman, and we’ll have the chance to do so soon, as the movie is set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
