David Arquette Returns to the Slasher Horror Genre with ‘Kill or Be Killed’

David Arquette, famous for his work on the Scream series, is once again involved in the world of slasher films with a fresh project titled Kill Or Be Killed. Alongside him, Alisha Newton – an up-and-coming talent from Heartland – features in this spine-tingling summer horror movie.

The movie traces the story of Dani, portrayed by Newton, along with her companions, who are celebrating their graduation. However, their joyful summer plans take a sinister turn when a grisly murder is found on the school’s football field.

In a grotesque fashion, the corpse is disfigured and a blood-red letter is attached, containing a yearbook photograph and a chilling threat: ‘Choose Between Life and Death’. As more bodies accumulate, Dani and her companions find themselves entangled in a lethal game that transcends their small town boundaries and gains widespread attention.

The movie is penned by Nick Zigler, a writer with previous works like the “Chucky” and “Purge” TV series, and helmed by David Straiton, famous for his work on “Narcos”. The crew responsible for this film comprises producers from Other Animal Entertainment, who have also been involved in the production of “Poor Agnes”.

Previously recognized for his role in the horror series “Scream,” Arquette has recently taken on a part in the western film “The Unholy Trinity” alongside Pierce Brosnan and Samuel L. Jackson. Conversely, Newton is garnering increased attention for her performances in Netflix’s “My Life with the Walter Boys” and “Heartland.

According to producer Ryan Keller, this movie embodies the essence of traditional summer horror flicks, but with a new spin tailored for contemporary viewers. He highlights that the virus-like nature of the killer’s game gives it a timely feel, connecting it to our current world. Moreover, the relentless struggle for survival is a theme that resonates universally.

In a statement, the film’s director, Straiton, emphasizes that the essence of summer horror films lies in the blend of liberty and apprehension. He expresses his hope that this movie will deliver an engaging and unexpected experience for viewers.

Alongside the crew, we have Yaron Levy, director of photography with credits on “Saw”, and Peter Bohdal, production designer who’s worked on “Beacon 23”. Marketing efforts are being managed by Cousin Jones, an industry veteran known for campaigns associated with “28 Days Later”, “IT”, and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”.
