Dave Grohl Admits to Fathering Child Outside of Marriage; Vows to Regain Family’s Trust

On September 10, Dave Grohl revealed on Instagram that he’s welcomed a new baby girl into his life, born outside of his current marriage. In his post, the Foo Fighters frontman expressed: “I am now the proud father of a beautiful little girl.

As an overjoyed father-to-be, I’ve pledged my unwavering commitment to be a loving and nurturing parent to our upcoming bundle of joy, all while cherishing the deep bond I share with my beloved wife and our three amazing kids. I vow to do everything in my power to rebuild their trust and seek their forgiveness as I navigate this new chapter together with them.

 

Since 2003, Grohl has been married to Jordyn Blum; they first crossed paths in 2001, as reported by Daily Mail. Together, they’ve brought three daughters into the world: Violet (age 18), Harper (age 15), and Ophelia (age 10). Known for his dedication to family, the rock star frequently expresses heartfelt sentiments about his loved ones during interviews.

2007 saw Grohl expressing in The Guardian that it’s his wife and daughter Violet who prevent him from fading into obscurity. Later, in 2009, he told TIME that having a family has transformed everything for him, including his touring schedule. He admitted that before, he toured for nine out of twelve months, but now cannot be away from his kids for more than twelve consecutive days. Grohl also mentioned that fatherhood has made him more empathetic and this shift in perspective is undoubtedly affecting the songs he writes.

Despite usually keeping a low profile, Blum graced the public scene along with her husband at the 2023 Grammy Awards. They were joined by their trio of daughters.

In July 2024, the woman who previously worked as a producer for MTV and later met Grohl was spotted at Wimbledon with her husband. They were seated in the Royal Box among stars such as David Beckham.

Previously this year, Grohl sparked controversy by stating that Taylor Swift doesn’t perform live during her concerts. In August, he voiced his political stance by announcing that any royalties generated from Donald Trump using one of their songs would be contributed to Kamala Harris’s campaign. Interestingly, the former U.S. president utilized Foo Fighters’ 1997 hit “My Hero” during a rally to introduce Robert F. Kennedy, an independent candidate who supported him. However, it was clarified that they were not asked for permission and would have declined if approached.

In terms of his private affairs, Grohl ended his marriage with Jennifer Leigh Youngblood in 1997, following an acknowledgment of unfaithfulness on his part.
