Dave Franco Being “Courted” to Play Luigi Mangione: “I have never received more texts in my life about anything.”

During the promotion of two films at the Sundance Film Festival, including “Together” with his wife Alison Brie, Dave Franco has been receiving a lot of attention due to being compared to Luigi Mangione. Brie playfully commented, ‘Does everyone mean everybody?’, and Franco admitted, ‘I’ve never received more texts about anything in my life.’

As Franco shared, an influx of messages poured in from his contacts. He confessed that anyone with his phone number had gotten in touch with him. However, to date, no one has offered him a role related to Mangione’s projects, although social media has been buzzing with the idea. Brie joked, ‘No formal offers have come yet,’ and Franco swiftly concurred.

In December, Mangione gained notoriety as he was implicated in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan. Following an extended search, Mangione was apprehended in Pennsylvania and currently waits for trial while maintaining his plea of innocence.

Ever since the news was made public, there have been several documentary initiatives unveiled, among them one from an Academy Award-winning filmmaker like Alex Gibney.

Currently, Franco and Brie’s film titled “Together” is a chilling tale where a couple relocates to the countryside and confronts an otherworldly presence. Brie shared her thoughts on performing alongside her spouse, expressing that it provided them with an opportunity to delve into the highs and lows of intimacy. ‘We could identify with the concept of losing oneself in a relationship,’ she stated.

Franco shared that the filming was quite demanding, involving lengthy days filled with immense energy. He often found himself questioning, “How am I going to manage this?” in the mornings, but once on set, he was invigorated by the thrill. The premiere of ‘Together‘ is scheduled for January 26 at Sundance.
