Dark Horse Comics Cancels Neil Gaiman’s Ongoing Series Admist Scandal

In response to sexual misconduct accusations towards Neil Gaiman, Dark Horse Comics has chosen to halt the remainder of the “Anansi Boys” comic book series, which was based on his beloved novel. The seventh installment was recently published this month, with intentions to conclude the story in March with the eighth issue.

Unfortunately, it’s been confirmed that neither the final installment nor a compiled trade edition of the comic book series will be published. This news was shared by the writer adapting the novel, Marc Bernardin, on BlueSky.

He openly showed satisfaction with the creative efforts of the team, comprising artists like Shawn Martinbrough, Chris Sotomayor on colors, and David Mack on covers, while also recognizing the seriousness of the circumstances at hand.

They are like two halves of the same whole. A concept that I didn’t understand before, but now it resonates with me. Bernardin expressed his compassion for survivors, stating that further publication might cause unintentional harm.

Following the release of an exposé by Vulture, this announcement arrives, outlining claims made against Gaiman. However, these allegations have been refuted by the author himself. Concurrently, Disney has temporarily paused its separate adaption of Gaiman’s work due to the accusations.
