‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Writer Nearly Uncovered Shocking MCU Secret to Vincent D’Onofrio: “What is going on”

As a longtime fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I can’t help but feel like I’ve stumbled upon a hidden treasure trove of information with Vincent D’Onofrio‘s latest interview at New York Comic Con 2024. The man behind the iconic Kingpin character has always been enigmatic, and his recent comments about potential future storylines only serve to whet my appetite for more.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but express my excitement about Vincent D’Onofrio’s celebrated portrayal of Kingpin in Netflix’s “Daredevil” and the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Echo”. With the highly anticipated return of “Daredevil: Born Again” on the horizon, fellow fans and I are buzzing with anticipation about his future roles and the captivating narratives he will be a part of.

For the past year, numerous clues have been subtly presented about Kingpin, and considering the character’s intricacies and D’Onofrio’s impressive acting skills, it seems plausible that he could become one of the toughest antagonists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, despite lacking superpowers.

2024 at New York Comic Con, I found myself in a fascinating chat with Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, as they sat down with Screen Rant. Our discussion naturally veered towards prospective narratives for Daredevil and the Kingpin.

Vincent D’Onofrio mentioned that, apart from the development of their individual storylines, the studio seldom reveals information on larger story arcs to minimize the chances of leaking spoilers.

When inquired about his interest in portraying a villain similar to Thanos for street-level characters such as Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Spider-Man, D’Onofrio showed excitement but also hinted that one of the writers for “Daredevil: Born Again” almost exposed a significant Marvel Cinematic Universe secret to him.

Absolutely, I’m referring to each and every one of them. Let’s see what they have in store. It’s captivating – hearing Charlie’s responses, he seems to hit the nail on the head. One of the intriguing aspects of being part of the MCU is that we’re largely unaware of what lies ahead for these characters and their plans.

It may seem odd to some, but what I’m saying is accurate. In fact, just recently, during a discussion among our team members, one of them accidentally revealed something, and it so happened that one of the supervisors was on a Zoom call.

Initially, I said something like “Huh?” [laughs] and they both responded with the same. However, this particular boss who takes the show seriously replied, “No, it’s not a topic we can discuss right now.” To which I inquired, “What exactly are you referring to? What’s happening?

If you’re wondering if this is related to something outside our scope, I honestly can’t say for certain. I’m completely in the dark about it.

In the upcoming series “Daredevil: Born Again,” details about Kingpin’s involvement remain scarce, primarily due to set leaks. However, it is confirmed that he will assume the role of Mayor and collaborate with an anti-vigilante task force, whose mission is to eradicate vigilantism from the streets of New York City.

Previously, it was rumored that Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) was going to be among the antagonists for Spider-Man 4, with the movie focusing on a gritty, ground-level narrative, prior to Robert Downey Jr.’s casting as Doctor Doom in the MCU.
