Daredevil: Born Again has become one of the standout shows in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The series debuted on Disney+ on March 4, 2025, starting with the first two episodes. The first season had nine episodes in total and was well-received by critics, who praised its realistic and intense style and focus on characters. It also drew connections to the original series on Netflix.
The second season is planned to arrive in March 2026, and will include eight episodes. We can anticipate a much larger season, featuring greater challenges for the characters, more developed plots, and increased action. It promises to be even more engaging than the first!
Returning favorites include Matt Murdock, Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), and Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher (Jon Bernthal). Viewers can also expect to see Krysten Ritter reprise her role as Jessica Jones, which has sparked excitement about possible cameos from other members of The Defenders, such as Iron Fist or Luke Cage. Plus, a special featuring The Punisher, originally developed during Season 1, is scheduled for release in 2026 as part of the Marvel Studios Special Presentations series.
Writer and producer Jesse Wigutow spoke with Collider about the show’s plans. He explained that Season 2 features a large-scale, complex story involving crime and politics in New York City, ultimately leading to a major showdown between Murdock and Mayor Fisk. “We created a very expansive narrative, and then in the finale, we focused it on the core of the story… the relationship between these two characters and their central conflict,” Wigutow stated.
So, looking ahead, fans can rejoice! They’re already working on Season 3, which is currently slated to hit screens in March 2027 as part of the MCU’s Phase Six. There was a bit of a stir earlier this year when Charlie Cox hinted it might be the “final season,” but thankfully, Marvel Television has confirmed that’s not the case and they are definitely moving forward with production. It’s good news for anyone invested in the show!
Wigutow clarified that Season 3 will both continue the existing storyline and explore new territory. “It builds on what came before, but it’s also a new direction, moving away from many of the elements established in Seasons 1 and 2,” he stated.
We’re still in the beginning phases of making the new season. Wigutow shared that the writers will get back to work shortly to start creating scripts, and they anticipate filming will begin at some point next year.
It’s great that Daredevil: Born Again is developing in a way that still respects the characters we love. This new approach has the potential to revitalize the show and introduce exciting new stories.
