Born Again” has been struggling in its latest episodes, as the penultimate one failed to appear on the Nielsen streaming rankings, making it the eighth episode in a row for this show that’s achieved this feat – something no other prominent Marvel series has managed.
If MCU fans don’t choose to watch the last episode and then binge-watch, it seems probable that the upcoming Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again, may not appear on the Nielsen ratings next week, marking it as the first MCU series on Disney+ not to do so. We’ll find out soon.
Disney+ automatically has Nielsen tracking turned on in user accounts.
What are the ratings?
In the week of April 7 -13, 2025, Nielsen published their charts, marking the release date of episode 8, titled “Isle of Joy,” from the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again. Unfortunately, this particular episode did not appear on the chart, much like the seven episodes that preceded it. Notably, Nielsen tracks all episodes accessible within a week’s timeframe.
At the base of the Nielsen rankings for last week, Netflix’s show “Million Dollar Secret” accumulated approximately 463 million viewing minutes. This implies that episode 8 of “Daredevil: Born Again” attracted fewer minutes.
When episodes five and six were released simultaneously, they didn’t make it into the charts (as shown below). On average, they were watched for less than 172 million minutes each. Therefore, it appears highly unlikely that a single new episode could surpass this mark, given that the threshold is almost triple this amount, unless fans decide to binge-watch instead of waiting for subsequent releases.
MCU brand is damaged
It appears that the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) brand seems to be facing some challenges as fans aren’t showing much interest in the MCU shows on Disney+. Instead, it’s the animated series “Bluey” that is drawing viewers, and surprisingly, that’s not even a Disney production. As for movies, while titles like “Moana 2” and “Mufasa: The Lion King” have made it to the Top 10 Movies Nielsen chart, it seems the MCU films aren’t quite as popular at the moment.
There’s no need to search any further; “Thunderbolts” appears to be a sign of potential troubles within the MCU, as it underperformed at the box office despite being a reasonably good film. It ranks among the lowest in the MCU, and fan interest seems to be lacking, even with its rebranding as “New Avengers.” This comes at a time when reports from the Wall Street Journal suggest that Kevin Feige is making significant changes within Marvel. The question now is: Is it already too late?
Next up, straight from the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+, we have “Ironheart”. They’re currently trying to promote the series with Robert Downey Jr., let’s see how it goes!
