Daniel Radcliffe Reportedly in the Running to Play Basil Karlo in ‘Clayface’

Not too long ago, the production company DC Studios formally approved the development of a chilling movie titled Clayface. The plot revolves around an unsuccessful B-list actor striving for relevance who, after encountering a peculiar substance, undergoes a horrifying transformation into a being composed entirely of clay.

The screenplay was penned by Flanagan. Safran noted that the film’s mood resembled the 1986 horror masterpiece “The Fly”. Unfortunately, due to Flanagan’s forthcoming obligations for his “The Exorcist” movie (2026) and a prospective “Carrie” TV series, he couldn’t take on the directorial role.

In contrast to being newly appointed, James Watkins has been tasked with directorial responsibilities, with filming anticipated to commence towards the end of the current year. Moreover, Keanu Reeves is participating in a producing role along with Lynn Harris through their production company, 6th & Idaho Productions.

In the clarification by Gunn and Safran, it was made clear that Alan Tudyk, who lent his voice to Clayface in the animated series ‘Creature Commandos’, will not be reprising that role for this movie. This is because his voice work as Clayface was not deemed one of his key roles within the DC Universe.

According to industry source Jeff Sneider, it’s being speculated that Daniel Radcliffe is among the contenders for the lead role. However, the identity of the second potential candidate remains undisclosed, and this information has yet to be verified by official channels.

Right now, Radcliffe is scheduled to appear with Ethan Hawke and Jessica Biel in the biopic titled “Batso“, and also with Lucas Hedges in the suspenseful war movie titled “Trust the Man“.
