Daniel Radcliffe recently contacted Dominic McLaughlin, the actor who will be playing Harry Potter in the new HBO series, after learning he’d been cast. He shared this information during an appearance on “Good Morning America.”
Radcliffe doesn’t believe the new cast members were obligated to reach out to him, but he wanted to offer his support, as he’s acquainted with some of the people working on the new project. He mentioned he wrote a personal letter to Dominic McLaughlin, who responded with a kind note.
Radcliffe explained he didn’t want to overwhelm the new actors, but he also recalled how daunting it felt being young and unexpectedly thrown into a massive project.
He explained that he didn’t want to intrude on his children’s lives, but he did want to send a message wishing the recipient well. He wrote, ‘I hope you have the best time, and an even better time than I did—I really enjoyed myself, but I hope yours is even better.’
You know, seeing pictures of Sadie Sink, Caleb McLaughlin, and the rest of the young cast always gets to me. It makes me feel so protective of them! I just think about how wild it is that I was doing all that stuff at their age, but it’s also really heartwarming. I truly hope they’re all having an amazing time and enjoying the experience as much as I did.
The upcoming HBO series based on “Harry Potter” will star Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
Lox Pratt will play Draco Malfoy, Alessia Leoni will be Parvati Patil, Leo Earley will portray Seamus Finnigan, Rory Wilmot will play Neville Longbottom, and Amos Kitson will appear as Dudley Dursley. The BBC and other news sources reported that Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden has constructed a temporary school at the filming location to allow the young actors to continue their education throughout the multi-year production.
