Daniel Kaluuya Praises Chadwick Boseman, Reveals How the Late Actor Helped Him in Hollywood

As a fan who has been captivated by the magic of Marvel Cinematic Universe for years, I can wholeheartedly say that Chadwick Boseman was not just an actor; he was a beacon of hope and inspiration. His portrayal of Black Panther transcended the screen, touching millions of hearts worldwide.

It’s common knowledge that Black Panther is among the most beloved characters within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and the films centered around this Wakandan superhero have been extremely successful. However, it’s important to note that the second film did not include T’Challa, the original Black Panther portrayed by the late Chadwick Boseman in the first movie.

In 2020, Chadwick Boseman succumbed to colon cancer, leaving the entertainment world in shock. Marvel not only lost a priceless asset but also the film industry mourned the loss of an incredibly talented actor. As numerous online tributes attest, he was admired not just for his extraordinary acting skills, but also for his kind and warm personality – a cherished friend and beloved family member.

Although we may never fully heal from the loss of Chadwick Boseman, we can pay tribute to his memory and the impact he had on us all. In this report, we will share the heartfelt words spoken by Daniel Kaluuya, Boseman’s Black Panther co-star and Academy Award winner, about our beloved Chadwick.

Daniel Kaluuya and Chadwick Boseman have proven themselves to be exceptional talents and standout actors over the past few years. Not only are they shining stars on screen, but their impact off-screen is equally significant. They’ve challenged and overcome stereotypes and prejudice faced by Black actors, demonstrating that they can excel despite systemic issues within our society and the entertainment industry. Their achievements are truly inspiring.

As a gamer, I’ve got to hand it to these two actors – Chadwick Boseman and Daniel Kaluuya. They’re both up for an Oscar, but let me tell you, their paths there are different. Chadwick was posthumously nominated for his powerful performance in ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’, a play penned by August Wilson. On the other hand, Daniel Kaluuya has been recognized for not one, but two films – ‘Get Out’ and ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’. Interestingly, he took home the win for ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’, where he portrayed the real-life activist Fred Hampton.

In “Black Panther”, the roles of the main character, T’Challa (played by Boseman), and his untrustworthy friend W’Kabi (portrayed by Kaluuya) were jointly portrayed. At a recent event for the BFI London Film Festival held at Soho’s Picturehouse Central, Kaluuya fondly recalled Boseman and spoke about the assistance he provided when Kaluuya was new to Hollywood.

Encountering Chad was a turning point in my existence. At a shared dinner, I found myself seated across from him, and he seemed to sense an impending shift in my life, unbeknownst to me. With a subtle gesture, he leaned closer – just before I was due for a media tour, without a publicist to guide me. He perceived my predicament and stepped in, offering aid without me having to ask, something I hadn’t even considered.

He big bro-ed me, he helped me out. Then Get Out came out, and he did a speech on my birthday, it was so poignant. He was an incredible leader on set, and I really felt for him because doing those Marvel things, that’s work. That’s hard. Especially doing the action sequences in those suits in hot weather, it’s hard on the body… Knowing that he did that while he was going through what he was going through, I don’t really have the words for it.

He tirelessly devoted himself, showing exceptional leadership qualities. He consistently fostered unity among people, always making time for each one. With Lupita Nyong’o, there was a constant exchange of ideas, and they both sensed the impending transformation in my life.
