As a dedicated follower and admirer of Julianne Hough‘s journey, I find her courage to openly discuss her personal experiences truly inspiring. Her life story serves as a testament to self-discovery, growth, and the complexities that come with love and relationships.
As a committed follower, I’d like to share that Julianne Hough, renowned for her role in Safe Haven, has disclosed one of the factors contributing to her divorce from her former spouse, Brooks Laich. For nearly five years, they were a married couple, bound together by their shared love and professional pursuits – she, a dancer-actress, he an Ice Hockey player. In a candid conversation on the Jamie Kern Lima show, Hough delved deeply into her marital life with Laich, offering insights into their journey together.
In conversation with the host, Hough expressed that her marriage to the athlete ranks among the most wonderful experiences of her life.
During an interview with the media outlet, the actress from Footloose explained, “At that point in time, what I needed most was to reconnect with my 10-year-old self.” She went on to say, “When I was 10, I yearned for security and someone who could serve as a strong, supportive presence, like a father figure. So, I believe our relationship was characterized by the fragile innocence of a young girl and the steadfast strength of a reliable man. He offered me an incredibly nurturing base to embrace my childhood.”
Hough went on to explain that as her relationship dynamics with Liach evolved, they both came to understand that their desires were no longer aligned. The actress asserted that as she matured into a more feminine individual, she found it difficult to view things from her husband’s perspective.
In the midst of her relationship’s challenges, Hough revealed in an interview with Women’s Health Magazine (2019) that she doesn’t identify strictly as straight. She explained, “For me, it wasn’t about being straight or lesbian or bisexual or queer; rather, I believe I’m just discovering what love means and I love people.”
Additionally, she shared, “At that moment, I wasn’t sure exactly what it was that drew me to you, but in the newfound liberty of my growing affection for you, I made my choice.”
In 2017, Julianne Hough tied the knot with her ice hockey player partner following a short courtship. However, their relationship didn’t last long as they separated in 2020. The divorce became official in 2022. Interestingly, after signing the divorce papers, the actress shared that she had a conversation with her former spouse, and both of them came to the realization that they could have handled their issues more maturely.
I value our unique bond, forged during an exceptionally intense period in our lives. While I may not pursue a romantic relationship with the athlete again, we hold significant importance in each other’s lives. Together, we experienced a powerful, unforgettable season.
After her breakup, there were whispers that the actress might be seeing Charlie Wilson, but nothing official has been verified yet.
