Dana Carvey Opens Up On Kamala Harris’ Reaction To His Joe Biden Act In SNL; Says, ‘She Laughed So Hard’

As a lifelong comedy enthusiast and follower of Dana Carvey‘s illustrious career, I must say that his recent recounting of Kamala Harris’ reaction to his Joe Biden act on Saturday Night Live was nothing short of electrifying. The way he described the emotional response from the audience, and especially from Vice President Harris herself, brought a new level of authenticity to the comedy scene.

Dana Carvey shared insights on Kamala Harris’ response to his Joe Biden character during their Saturday Night Live performance alongside Maya Rudolph and Andy Samberg.

In this scenario, Carvey took on the part of the present U.S. President, while Rudolph and Samberg played Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff respectively. On a podcast called Superfly, Carvey shared that he made Harris laugh heartily when he mimicked Joe Biden.

During a chat on the podcast, the entertainer humorously discussed his co-starring role with Harris in the SNL sketch’s initial scene, which was set against a chilly backdrop.

The actor from Wayne’s World explained that her performance during the cold opening was exceptionally moving. Regardless of one’s political views, it was a deeply human moment that left the audience emotionally touched in a studio for approximately two minutes, making many feel teary-eyed.

Regarding the brief appearance of the political figure, Carvey commented, “It felt quite touching,” and further shared an anecdote that Harris actually stopped by Rudolph’s dressing room, with Carvey himself still in character as Biden at the time.

During their brief encounter, Dana remembered throwing all her witty remarks about the President in the presence of an Indian-American woman, and she burst out laughing heartily, almost doubling over with amusement.

Besides being in the same room as Harris, the actor also mentioned that her security team seemed intimidating. Carvey humorously added that he was “dressed like a tomato,” standing before the Vice President’s bodyguards, who were both tall and armed. He confessed that he had never felt more feminine during his life.

Among the security personnel assigned to Harris, there were Secret Service agents who ensured her safety at all times. Yet, Carvey was unsure of how to behave around them. He humorously mentioned that when he walked among those guards dressed similarly to Biden, he’d make a small salute-like gesture, mimicking the actions of a commander in chief.

Simultaneously, the actor shared insights about the set ambiance prior to the Vice President’s arrival. He asserted that there was a palpable eagerness among the crew as they anticipated her arrival. Upon her descent from the car, Vice President Harris flashed a wide grin and surveyed the sets before readying herself for her role in the scene.

The clips of the SNL episode will be available to stream on YouTube.
