Daisy Ridley to Play MMA Fighter Bryony Tyrell in Biopic ‘Killa Bee’

Deadline reports that Daisy Ridley will play MMA fighter Bryony Tyrell in an upcoming biopic titled Killa Bee.

Ridley, known for her MMA training for the film The Cleaner and for doing her own stunts as Rey in Star Wars, is set to play this actual fighter in a new role.

Kenton Oxley will direct the new film, based on a screenplay by Ruth Sewell. The movie is a collaboration between Knockout Productions, Picture Perfect, and Moviehouse Entertainment. Lucinda Thakrar and Mark Vennis are producing, with Michael Foster serving as executive producer.

Killa Bee tells the story of Bryony Tyrell, a mom of two who juggled a demanding job in intensive care with her dream of becoming a professional MMA fighter.

Tyrell has a strong background in science, with degrees in both nursing and molecular biology. She’s also a highly skilled martial artist, starting with kickboxing in college and eventually earning a black belt. She transitioned from amateur to professional MMA, where she’s won multiple championships.

Ridley expressed her enthusiasm for the role of Tyrell, describing Bryony’s story as incredibly courageous and inspiring. She was particularly touched by Bryony’s emotional strength and empowering path, and is eager to portray her on screen.

The producers confirmed that Bryony Tyrell has been part of the project from the start. She’s happy to see her life story adapted for the screen and is actively helping with the production.

The script was developed with close input from Bryony’s family, making sure it felt emotionally honest and stayed true to her vision. Director Kenton, who has been friends with Bryony since childhood, is approaching the story with a personal touch, built on a foundation of trust and loyalty.

Nathan Wang, who led the international sales efforts for the deal, also shared his thoughts on the project.
