As a die-hard Star Wars enthusiast, I can’t help but be thrilled by the prospect of Daisy Ridley returning as Rey. The galaxy far, far away holds a special place in my heart, and the Sequel Trilogy was a captivating chapter that left me yearning for more. The idea of Rey leading a new Jedi Order is nothing short of exhilarating!
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve found myself deeply immersed in the colossal fictional galaxy that is Star Wars. Ever since George Lucas first unveiled his groundbreaking film concept, this universe has grown exponentially, spawning countless tales – perhaps even more than we can count!
It was previously shared that Disney and Lucasfilm have announced their plans to create three new Star Wars films between 2026 and 2027, after the release of The Acolyte. One of these movies is rumored to center around Daisy Ridley’s character Rey from the Sequel Trilogy.
Although the film appeared to be progressing, more recent updates suggest it’s encountered a roadblock, as Disney and Lucasfilm have decided to postpone production for later, potentially focusing on different projects instead. Simultaneously, Daisy Ridley spoke about her return in an interview, discussing how criticism from both haters and so-called fans affected her during her portrayal of Rey.
It has been announced that the upcoming movie will serve as a continuation of the Sequel Trilogy’s Episode IX, primarily focusing on Rey establishing a new Jedi Order. The tentative title for this project is the “New Jedi Order.” Ridley is expected to reprise her role as Rey, while Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is rumored to be directing the film based on a screenplay by Steven Knight.
The initial plan was for filming to start soon, but a definite release date hasn’t been announced yet. There are whispers going around that the two production companies might be delaying the movie, which could mean we won’t get to see Rey again on the big screen anytime soon. Despite these rumors, Daisy Ridley recently spoke with Premiere and discussed her experiences playing the role. She opened up about how the negative fans who didn’t embrace her character affected her personally.
The way some fans reacted to Rey was very harsh. Did you feel that?
Indeed, while I understand some individuals may have expressed themselves negatively, I choose not to dwell on such sentiments as they hold little relevance for me. After all, it’s beyond my power to alter societal views towards women, and that seems to be a common occurrence in our world. However, the overwhelming response was highly favorable, so I prefer to focus on the positive aspects of this situation.

From our previous reports, you’ll notice that Ridley appears unfazed by those self-proclaimed fans and eagerly looks forward to reprising her role. In our view, this approach is commendable, as she chooses to disregard the hate and not let it impact her decisions. We stand in solidarity with her choice.
