Dahmer Creator Ryan Murphy’s Monsters: The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story Gets Netflix Release Date With New TEASER; Watch

As a seasoned true-crime enthusiast who has delved into countless documentaries and series, I am both intrigued and apprehensive about Ryan Murphy’s latest offering, “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story“. Having followed the Menendez brothers’ case since its sensational trial in 1996, I find it fascinating how this narrative continues to captivate audiences decades later.

Ryan Murphy’s documentary series about the Menendez brothers, titled “The Menendez Murders,” is available on Netflix. On August 20th, Netflix unveiled a trailer along with the release date. In a follow-up to his work on the Dahmer case, Murphy has decided to delve into the lives of Lyle and Erik, the siblings who committed the murders of their parents.

1996 saw the pair being found guilty in a criminal case they were accused of. In the upcoming series, Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch will portray the Menendez brothers as main characters. For the roles of their parents, Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny have been cast for the show.

The upcoming series is inspired by a real-life court case from 1996, but details about the show’s structure have yet to be disclosed. In this case, two boys were found guilty of murdering their parents in order to gain control over their family estate. They also asserted that they committed the crime due to years of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. Despite serving life sentences without parole, they maintain their accusations.

“While the prosecution believed they wanted the family wealth, the brothers maintain, even while serving life sentences with no chance of parole, that their actions were driven by a lifelong fear resulting from physical, emotional, and sexual abuse inflicted by their parents.”

Having spent years as a crime journalist, I can attest to the enduring allure of true crime stories, and Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is no exception. As someone who has delved into countless cases, this series takes me back to the sensational trial that captivated the world in the 1990s, igniting a fascination with true crime that continues to this day. The series poses a question that I believe resonates deeply within us all: Who are the real monsters? The Menendez brothers or the circumstances that led them to commit their heinous acts? As we watch the story unfold, it forces us to grapple with the complexities of human nature and the blurred lines between right and wrong.

In this upcoming episode of the show, a variety of talented actors such as Nathan Lane, Ari Graynor, Leslie Grossman, Dallas Roberts, Paul Adelstein, Jason Butler Harner, Enrique Murciano, Michael Gladis, Drew Powell, Charlie Hall, Gil Ozeri, Jeff Perry, Tessa Auberjonois, Tanner Stine, Larry Clarke, Jade Pettyjohn, and Marlene Forte have been brought on board to take part.

As I delve deeper into my role for this captivating series, I’m thrilled to have Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, David McMillan, Louise Shore, and Carl Franklin by my side. Each episode of our production is masterfully directed by a diverse group of talented individuals such as Brennan, Carl Franklin, Max Winkler, Paris Barclay, and Michael Uppendahl. The scriptwriting team for the show includes myself, Brennan, David McMillan, Todd Kubrak, and Reilly Smith. Together, we’re crafting a unique and compelling viewing experience for our audience.

The new series will hit the streaming platform on September 19, 2024.
