As a dedicated fan of Dafne Keen and the X-Men universe, I find it absolutely thrilling to witness her return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as X-23 in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film. Her ability to keep such a significant role under wraps for so long is truly impressive, and it’s fascinating to learn that she took inspiration from none other than Andrew Garfield, who is renowned for his secretive nature.
As a long-time fan of the X-Men universe, I was absolutely thrilled when I heard that the final trailer for the Deadpool and Wolverine movie had been released! The anticipation leading up to this moment had been building for what felt like an eternity. And then, in the midst of all the excitement, came a major surprise: Dafne Keen was back!
Dafne Keen considers Andrew Garfield the master of keeping things under wraps
In the last trailer, Dafne Keen unexpectedly emerges, engaging in a chat with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. Previously, Keen, who worked with Jackman portraying X-23 in Logan (2017), has largely concealed her comeback to the Marvel universe.
In an Entertainment Weekly interview recently, Keen shared how she successfully hid her role from the public for a long time. She attributed her ability to Garfield’s talent in keeping his movie projects under wraps. Impressed by Garfield’s knack for film secrecy, Keen drew inspiration from him.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d say: During my recent chat with the media about rejoining Marvel and working alongside the wonderful Hugh Jackman once again, I couldn’t help but reflect on how I managed to keep my role under wraps for so long. In most of those interviews, I was bombarded with questions regarding my potential involvement in Deadpool 3, but I simply dodged them with a graceful smile and a well-practiced evasion.
Androgynous name (Keen) acknowledged the guidance of Andrew Garfield in maintaining secrecy regarding her Marvel projects. She expressed, “I’ve learned all I know from Andrew Garfield – he’s a true expert in this area.”
In contrast to expectations, Garfield, who previously dismissed rumors of reprising his role as Spider-Man before the premiere of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in 2021, ended up astonishing fans by making an unexpected appearance in the movie, solidifying his knack for concealing information.
Dafne Keen speaks on her return
Keen spoke passionately about her dream to act as Logan’s clone once more. She reminisced about the past when whispers of an X-23 film circulated, a venture that unfortunately never came to fruition. Keen recalled conversations regarding a possible screenplay and admitted, despite being just eleven at the time with limited information, she was thrilled about the prospect.
I was bummed out when Disney took over 20th Century Fox and put an end to all X-Men projects. Even though I’d already achieved so much in my acting career at a young age, I couldn’t help but feel regretful about the opportunities that were taken away from me. Playing the role of X-23 had been one of my best experiences yet.
In Deadpool & Wolverine, Keen playfully hinted at her comeback, showing eagerness to be part of thrilling action scenes and potentially wearing her renowned comic book character’s suit once more. She disclosed that stunt preparation was among her initial responsibilities for the production, and donning the costume reinvigorated her.
Enthusiasts are excited to find out if Keen will don the yellow and blue mask similar to Logan’s in this year’s much-awaited Marvel movie, helmed by Shawn Levy.
