CD Projekt Red has unexpectedly announced a new update, version 2.2, for Cyberpunk 2077, which will be discussed in detail on December 10, 2024 – the game’s fourth anniversary. This is surprising because the developers had earlier hinted that major updates had ended.
In the next REDstreams broadcast, we’ll unveil the latest additions from Update 2.2. Hinting at further content, Marcin Momot, CD Projekt’s Global Community Director, mentioned that ‘there’s still fuel left in the tank.’
Indeed, it’s been confirmed that the upcoming update for Cyberpunk 2077 won’t incorporate features for the PlayStation 5 Pro or a New Game Plus mode. CD Projekt RED’s John Mamais made this clear when he stated, ‘There has been much speculation about whether PS5 Pro support and NG+ will be part of Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.2. I must clarify that they are not.’
It came as a surprise since CD Projekt Red has been working on different ventures like The Witcher 4 and a future Cyberpunk game, according to their previous statements. Their Q1 2024 financial report mentioned that by April 30th, the development team had already transitioned to other projects.
