Every decade has those special musicians that people strongly associate with their youth. While these artists might not be mainstream radio staples, many of them deserve wider recognition – their music is truly great and still worth listening to today.
I’ve been a BoDeans fan for years! They actually started way back in 1983 in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and amazingly, they’re still touring. A lot of the original members have moved on, but it’s cool that Kurt Neumann, one of the band’s founders, is still leading the charge. So if you go see them live, you’re still getting a piece of the original BoDeans experience!
The BoDeans are probably most famous for their 1993 hit, “Closer to Free,” which was later used as the theme song for the TV show Party of Five. However, their success wasn’t just due to making catchy, upbeat songs.
BoDeans hitting the road in 2026 for an anniversary tour
This band plays fantastic, authentic roots rock – they don’t try to be anything they’re not and have stayed true to their original sound. If they’re touring near you in 2026 for their 40th anniversary, don’t miss the chance to see them live!
However, the band isn’t scheduled to perform anywhere in the Southern United States. If you’re in that area and want to see them, you’ll need to do some traveling.
