Crypto Advocate John Deaton Slams Senator Elizabeth Warren; Ripple CEO Backs His Senate Run

As a researcher with a keen interest in the intersection of technology, politics, and finance, I find myself intrigued by the unfolding events surrounding John Deaton’s Senate campaign in Massachusetts. Deaton’s strong advocacy for cryptocurrencies, particularly XRP, and his clash with Senator Elizabeth Warren over their differing views on digital currencies, make for an engaging narrative.

John Deaton is a well-known American attorney who’s actively involved in the cryptocurrency world. He garnered significant attention due to his legal efforts on behalf of XRP owners during the legal dispute between the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Ripple Labs, the company behind XRP. More recently, Deaton has stepped into politics, campaigning as a Republican for Massachusetts’ U.S. Senate seat, which is currently held by Senator Elizabeth Warren. This political bid has highlighted his pro-crypto stance, which stands in stark contrast to Warren’s critical perspective on digital currencies. Notable figures and companies within the crypto sphere have lent their support to Deaton’s campaign.

On October 22nd, 2024, John Deaton took to X (previously known as Twitter) to voice his concerns about the unreliability of some politicians. He specifically targeted Senator Elizabeth Warren, implying that she thought he would deceive voters during the campaign and later alter his views once in Washington D.C. Deaton accused Warren of being involved in a broken political system in Washington where tactics like this are common. He emphasized that he is distinct from such politicians and does not engage in similar strategies. Furthermore, Deaton asserted that Warren was twisting his record and maintained that politicians like her put special interests above the needs of the working and middle-class citizens.

In reply, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse endorsed Deaton for X, commending him as a reliable and robust supporter of the XRP community and the larger crypto world. Garlinghouse contrasted Deaton’s views with Senator Warren’s, claiming she disseminated incorrect information about the cryptocurrency industry. Garlinghouse wholeheartedly backed Deaton’s Senate bid, encouraging people to financially support his campaign, regardless of the amount, for his candidacy. If residing in Massachusetts, he urged voters to cast their ballots for Deaton.

In a recent response to Deaton’s comments regarding X, American lawyer Jeremy Hogan – renowned for his push towards clear cryptocurrency regulations in the U.S. – revealed that two of his Massachusetts-based team members had become aware of Deaton’s campaign and beliefs. This knowledge led them to persuade three of their family members to back Deaton. Hogan playfully noted that no direct incentives were used to sway those votes. He encouraged XRP Army supporters to follow suit, proposing that if each member could influence just four votes, it could be sufficient to ensure Deaton’s success in the election.

Here are two staff members who relocated here from Massachusetts, and I shared information about John and his principles with them. Subsequently, they convinced their respective three family members to cast their votes for him – no corrupt practices were involved!

If each member of the XRP Army could sway merely four votes, that would be more than enough to get him elected!
