As a huge fan of Blue Lock, I was thrilled to hear all the exciting news from the “BLUELOCK EGOIST FESTA 2025” event in Japan! It sounds like the franchise is really growing, and they revealed a lot about what’s coming next.
Fans are celebrating the news that the hit soccer anime will return for a third season! Plus, a live-action movie based on the series is also being made.
Season 3 picks up where the last one left off, adapting the Neo Egoist League arc from the original manga. This means we’ll see new international rivals challenging the Blue Lock players.
Kaneshiro announced that Season 3 is officially happening! He expressed gratitude to the Egoist production team and described the upcoming season as a fresh start for both the character Isagi and the creators. He promised they’ll be working with intense dedication and excitement, asking fans to eagerly anticipate its release.
Yusuke Nomura, the illustrator, shared his excitement about the new anime season, saying, “We’re finally adapting the Neo Egoist League! These international players are even more competitive than the Blue Lock team, so please look forward to it!”
A live-action movie adaptation of the popular anime *Blue Lock* is coming to Japan in the summer of 2026, timed to coincide with the World Cup. The movie will be produced by CREDEUS, the company known for bringing other series like *Kingdom* and *Golden Kamuy* to life in live-action.
Toho will handle the film’s release in Japan, but information about the actors, filmmakers, and when it will be available in other countries hasn’t been revealed yet.
Blue Lock, created by Kaneshiro and illustrated by Nomura, has been published in Weekly Shōnen Magazine since 2018. With 35 volumes currently available and over 50 million copies sold globally, it’s become a hugely popular manga series.
The first season of the anime, created by Eight Bit, ran from October 2022 to March 2023, and a second season followed in late 2024. A movie based on the ‘Episode Nagi’ side story was released in April 2024. In 2021, the series also received the Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category.
Fans of Blue Lock will be thrilled to hear that a third anime season and a live-action movie are planned! These additions have the potential to significantly boost the series’ popularity. Viewers are especially looking forward to the international matches featured in the Neo Egoist League arc, which promise exciting soccer gameplay and compelling character stories.
