Crunchyroll has announced that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba fans will have to be patient for the home release of the newest film, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns. The movie first came out in Japan on July 18th and has already been shown in some Asian countries thanks to Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Releasing. It will be a wait for those hoping to watch it at home.
The movie was a huge success in theaters, earning $616 million around the world. It became the top-earning Japanese film of 2025 and ranked as the seventh-highest-grossing film worldwide that year.
As a big anime fan, I was really excited about Infinity Castle. What makes it different from other compilations is that it’s a complete adaptation of the “Infinity Castle” arc from Koyoharu Gotouge’s original manga. It picks up right where the fourth season of the anime left off, and continues the story we started with the earlier movies – Mugen Train (2020), To the Swordsmith Village (2023), and To the Hashira Training (2024).
The epic final showdown begins! 🔥

The movie has received positive reviews for its stunning visuals, exciting action sequences, and engaging storyline. However, a few critics mentioned that the rhythm of the film sometimes felt a little inconsistent.
Even though the movie has been a big hit in theaters, Crunchyroll isn’t planning to release it online just yet. Popverse reports that Mitchel Berger, Crunchyroll’s Executive Vice President of Global Commerce, stated the streaming release won’t occur in 2024. Currently, it will remain exclusively in cinemas.
“You should definitely watch [Demon Slayer Infinity Castle] in a movie theater, as it won’t be available anywhere else in 2025. If you’re interested in seeing it, the theater is the only place to go,” he explained.
This means moviegoers will have to go to cinemas to see the complete film this year, as it won’t be available for streaming until 2026 at the earliest. This plan is probably intended to make the most money at the box office, but it’s left many people who prefer watching at home feeling let down.
